Established in 1997, Metalmorphosis has become one of the anchor businesses in the small artist town of Bisbee, Arizona, selling metal artwork and other fun, quirky creations.
Metalmorphosis began in July 1997, when Jason Kihl got out of the Navy and joined his metalworking father, Dan to create whimsical metal art. Dan had a relationship with an existing gallery Tubac, AZ and was doing art shows and street fairs to sell his work.
In 1999, they rented a shop in the small former mining town and artist colony of Bisbee, AZ where they were living and began to fill it with hundreds of pieces of artwork ranging in style from Southwest to contemporary, including some fantasy, abstract, and even creations made of animal bones found while hiking.
In 2002, Dan semi-retired and moved to the East Coast leaving Jason to run the business. In the following years Jason continued to create artwork and sell it at art shows and the two galleries.
The Tubac Gallery was closed a few years ago, but the Bisbee gallery was renovated in the summer of 2016. The current gallery has works by over twenty artists and craftspeople and is curated by Jason.
Please come in and take a look at the variety of creative work by our amazing and talented artists! And say hi to Ziggy, the shop dog and official greeter of Metalmorphosis!
