Long Island Realtor's Federal Credit Union is a non profit corporation separate from LIBOR, but sponsored by LIBOR, with an elected 9-member Board of Directors and 4 Officers. A 3 member Credit Committee is empowered to grant loans, and a 3 member Supervisory Committee to supervises its operation and is empowered to suspend Officers or Directors for failure to perform in accordance with its By-Laws. It is governed and lead by dedicated voluntary help and has paid staff to operate on a day to day basis. It distributes its surplus to its members in the form of dividends.
The purpose of the Long Island Realtor's Federal Credit Union is to encourage thrift among its members and to grant low cost loans to its members for provident and productive purposes, and to discourage borrowing from lending institutions charging higher rates of interest and other confiscatory charges.
