Try it. I have definitely found a new favorite place to feed all my Mexican cravings! Great food, friendly service and no skimping on the good stuff.
I love their barbacoa, anything with their barbacoa is good to me. Their salsa made in house is amazing, I put that over everything. The green salsa and tamarind mild salsa is so good. I've tried the super spicy one, it was too spicy for me, but flavor is good. Another thing I love there is their deep fried empanadas and I'm not even a fan of fried food...but trust me, it's delicious. Once you bite into the nicely fried lightly crunchy dough, and taste the gooey melted cheese, your eyes are gonna roll back haha. Wished they served seafood ceviche and shrimp coctel though = service is always great and the owners are really friendly.
Ordered the sampler platter times 3! Hands down the best mexikali food in Jackson! These tacos are insane!
Update: the restaurant has changed hands recently. Sadly the changes have been for the worse for both food and service. One of my favorite spots in the Jackson area. The food is fresh and outstanding. The owners are frequently present and are really personable and attentive. Be careful with the margaritas - they'll knock you back quickly!
Not bad at all! I had the taco salad with chicken and it was very good. The guacamole was fresh and delicious! The place is small with a bar but roomy. I see many return trips here! So, I returned to this joint last night and had fish tacos. I'm back again tonight... For the fish tacos and guacamole!! The third visit. Same dish. Still delicious!
Something is definitely not the same. Maybe in time they will improve. This use to be my favorite place on the weekend. I've been since end of September out of town and was looking forward to my empanadas . Immediate you see a generic menu that's the first sign, secondly the service is horrible. My order was taking several times but never put in the computer. I finally ask for the bill and left half of my Alcoholic beverage on the table. The prior owners especially the owner knew me as loyal customer. It was an awesome experience. I hope these new owners get it right one day. For now they have a journey ahead of them and will not be back. Pist ,poor service at it's best. Period. Alot of kids just walking around. Get it right but not on my watch.
Update: New management and the food is no where near as good. It’s so disappointing. I kept hoping Marcos was just on an extended vacation. Hoping he returns soon. Old Review: I drive 15 minutes and pass 6 other Mexican restaurants to eat here. I can't give them any higher endorsement than that. Marcos is super friendly and does his best to make your experience great. The food is just phenomenal. The flour empanadas are my favorite by far. The tacos seem to be all amazing but I am partial the pork. Their queso is great and you don't have to worry about changes in the heat because they serve plain and spicy. Their salsa verde is a light sauce that has a fresh salty taste and is delicious. I really can't say enough nice things about this place. Best Mexican restaurant in Jackson in my opinion.
You jerks. I’ve patronized this place since it opened. Owner told me a couple of years ago, that menudo is not on the menu, so call ahead to see if we have it if that is what you want. I always did and it was great. The place must be on the verge of closing, because today I called and was told with confidence they had menudo. Yet after I drove 20 mi, the poor waitress after taking my order has to get bailed out by another employee to tell me they don’t have it, but they said they did over the phone because most people like this other soup they had. After paying for the $4 beer I ordered and did not drink, I left the 3 people total dining in the place to find another spot. Good riddance.
I placed a to-go order for lunch earlier today. Let me say that the service was wonderful, the man taking my order was very helpful and let me know there were options on how they could prepare my food, all in all very friendly and helpful. Prices were also very reasonable. I ordered a steak happy plate and while it wasn’t awful, it was unlike any happy plate I’ve ever seen. Instead of the usual, and very much loved, Mexican rice smothered with queso and meat of choice, it was greasy white rice with sharp cheddar cheese and MAYBE a hint of queso. It tasted alright and I honestly ate most of it, but it isn’t at all what I wanted. My husband ordered a grande burrito with steak and shrimp and he said it was pretty good. Overall, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.
Have eaten here 100+ and never once regretted the decision or wish I had done something else. It can be a long wait time, but the food is always fresh and never greasy. Has been my favorite place in Jackson for many years.
