I am in love with this restaurant. We stopped in over the weekend for the first time while in town picking up our son. The owner greeted us and walked us through his lunch recommendations. We all went with the combo meals - picking the Ropa Vieja, Pork Fricase, and Chicken. Each of us went with black beans and rice and then picked different sides I am still thinking about those plantains and potatoes. The portions were generous and EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. We were the only diners while there, but several folks came in for carryout. I overheard another customer talking with the owner, professing their love for the food. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in Louisville. This place is a gem!
I was super excited to try this place out, but it ended up being very disappointing. There aren't too, too many Cuban places in the area, so I gave it a try. I ordered a ton of food: the yucca croquettes, yellow rice with vegetables, ropa viejo, and plantains, tres leches, and an empanada. The main dish ropa vieja with vegetables, plantains, and yellow rice. It was quite disappointing. The rice seemed to be soaked full of butter and weirdly crunchy. Plantains were okay, but a small portion. The ropa vieja seemed to come almost in a tomato sauce. The meat was okay quality and fine texture, but just not what I was looking for. Weirdly sweet and not enough vegetables. The empanadas were some of the strangest I've had in a long time. The outer shell was greasy, flaky, and hard. The inside tasted a bit like canned meatballs with sauce. Really weird flavor. The yucca croquettes were probably one of the best things I ordered from here. And they weren't even correctly made, so that says a lot about this order. Menu says the yucca is supposed to be stuffed with ground beef, but these were just yucca fries essentially. They were still pretty good, had a nice earthy flavor and good crisp, but didn't match the menu description. The tres leches was once again very weird-tasting, artificial, and disappointing. Lots of whipped cream on top. Artificial strawberry flavor throughout. The milk was watery and just not good at all. The greatest thing about this place is that the prices are super affordable for the most part. However, the quality is just not that great. I really can't recommend this place, although the prices are good. Most of the food was just not good.
We saw this place on our way to a different restaurant and we are SO glad we stopped in Mi Sueño for lunch. The lady behind the counter was super upbeat and nice. She made wonderful food recommendations. We ate as much as we possibly could but ended up taking to go boxes which I promptly finished off that evening. All the meats were delectable and the rice had to much flavor.
Food was really good; I got the chicken fajitas and black bean rice. I thought it was a bit salty for my taste but the plantains were delicious. The flan is the best flan I've ever had in my life so be sure to get that! Restrooms could use some love and it looked a bit shabby inside but the food more than made up for looks. Service was super friendly too!!
The food was good, but they don’t really have patience to show what food they have. Also, there was a metal piece in my cassava side. Showed it to owner, they only showed me a foil tried to explain where it came from….but that should not showed up in food. A bit sad for this experiment.
Today was our first time ever stopping by, the gentleman there was very welcoming. We told him it was our first time coming in, he immediately proceeded to show us EVERYTHING that was on the line aswell as giving us a description. We ordered and at checkout he even let us try the chicken vegetable soup, which was soooo goood!!! Overall a great experience. The food was delicious and the staff was so nice. We will definitely be back.
The Cuban sandwich was great and made fresh when I ordered it I did have to wait about 10-15 minutes. Eaten take out there various times. It's always good, home-cooked style food. I do find it a little expensive for what I'm getting/ location/ cafeteria style ordering, but the food is solid and the service is polite and helpful.Food: 4/5
tried this place and no ropa vieja as advertised, the man wasn’t too accommodating with the covered dishes and wouldn’t open them to show you - just says beef, pork, chicken. the rice was hard as well as the platanos, guessing they’ve been out for a while. will try to update if the next experience is better.
Always yummy! Women's bathroom could use some repairs.Food: 5/5
This place is fantastic very affordable my only gripe about this restaurant is they don't have a location in Cincinnati we don't have Any Cuban restaurants in Cincinnati. I highly recommend you stop by if you were in Louisville Kentucky. The food was served kind of cafeteria style and was very fresh and very flavorful with flavors that you don't normally get see pictures of this wonderful food and Drink.
