Honestly, coming here for mothers day was a horrible decision. If I could give it negative stars I would...after being seated we had to wait over 20 minutes just for the waiter to ask us for our drink order. When my waters finally arrived I found chips floating with my ice. The food is way overpriced and not at all a good quality. The meat is chewy with 60% fat and and 20% bone. The pork chops were so hard I couldn't cut it! We also paid the extra $10+ for shrimp and only received 4 shrimp soaked in garlic, they were not worth it. The service was horrible, we couldn't get their attention and they forgot to give us enough silverware for our table. Oh and my favorite part...we ordered guacamole as an appetizer...over half the bowl was filled with lettuce and only the top had guacamole. How ridiculous! They take the tip out themselves which came out more than $40. I'm never going back and I recommend you just go to a different restaurant.
Food took a little long but otherwise the drinks and salsa were some of the best I've had. Very lively atmosphere so make sure you go in with the right attitude. Grill was great. Decor would be higher but honestly the place seemed a "touch" dirty rustic, if you will. Server was great aside from the food taking forever.
My wife and I were looking for Mexican Restaurant near the Wit Theater. I have been to Que Rico before and enjoyed it, but my wife informed me Mayor Emanuel had said this was on is top ten list. So we decided to try it. The decor is typical the atmosphere was quite loud which is fine if you don't mind shouting. The salsa was very good. The chips were average. The service was great when it came to the chips and salsa. We were never without. The margaritas were your average cheap tequila and store bought mix in a plastic mug. The prices were average for Chicago. The food was below average. My wife said the fish tacos were the worst she has ever had. I ordered the mini grill with a variety of meats. It was NOT worth the $17.00. The food service was a little slow and we finally had to ask the manager to bring us our check. If this is what the mayor is highlighting as must eats in Chicago I would question his other top ten. We won't be back. I would recommend Que Rico as an alternative.
if i could give them zero i would. i understand that we came in as a large group, but they didn't need to treat us with such disrespect. everything the menu said our meals were going to come with did NOT. the portions were tiny. they gave us a menu that was one page and the other night they gave us a 3- page menu. and they completely overcharged us and refused to split our check. what if some of the people didn't have cash? how did they expect us to pay for it? this place was ridiculous. margs were good tho
I had the Chicken Enchilada Suizas & thought they were very good on Thurs. June 18, 2015 afternoon. I don't drink so can't speak for the margaritas. Service was fine, no problem. Some restaurants overcharge but I thought the price was fair. I wish I could speak to someone about the ingredients in the enchiladas private question.
This location is a family favorite! We love the large laid back atmosphere and the great food. The service is always fast and friendly and not to mention the Margaritas are great. We actually rented out the place for a family party and they still talk about the food, fun and service 5 years later.
I went to this restaurant for a friend's birthday dinner this evening and after we were seated it took them 20 minutes to even come by and we had to ask for service. Once the server came by Julio and told my friend he has 5 tables and will be there when he can. Took another 10 minutes for him to come over with our drinks. We finally got our drinks after being there for 30 minutes and put our food order in and when our food came it was terrible. The rice was evidently from a box and the refried beans from a can. Worse off when we approached management to tell them about their service they basically said "yeah we're understaffed" and left it at that. I would not recommend the food or this restaurant to anyone terrible experience and they do not care about their customer satisfaction. I wish I could say this was an isolated incident only for my party but reading all the posts it's a common denominator that the service is extremely slow and this service is poor. If you read your customer reviews over the last year nobody gave you more than two stars and you should focus on fixing your internal issues and Stefan your restaurant appropriately to meet your customers needs.
Do not go here expecting a huge festive Mexican restaurant. Their menu is only one page with no fountain drink options and the menu doesn't have no pictures of food whatsoever. They serve you hot beer and drinks claiming that it's cold enough. They serve raw and uncooked meat and food. They have an empty restaurant and still drag to attend tables it took almost 30 mins just so the waiter can come out nd say if were ready on an empty Friday night. This place is a joke don't come here!
This is the worst restaurant in Chicago! It is a over priced disaster. First they sat us behind the stage when plenty of tables were open. Then the food was boring, the drinks watered down, and service was extremely slow. We waited for almost 2 hours for the check, and we asked for it 6 times! I hate this place!
The food quality is low. I got the veggie tamales and fried ice cream. Neither stood out to me. I actually struggled to finish my food, because it was that unappetizing. In my opinion, there are better Mexican places around. While I didn't get any drinks, I think Mi Tierra could be a good place to grab some drinks, as they have some enticing drink specials.
