As a lawyer, what’s inspiring to me is that it takes people and real stories to give purpose to the law. It gives me meaning.
Michael Gonzalez grew up in the southmost area of Brownsville, Texas and attended schools in Brownsville Independent School District. Upon entering Lopez High School, Michael along with his brother and a few friends turned their attention to music—performing original songs and providing a neighborhood place for others to record music.
After high school, Michael attended The University of Texas at Brownsville graduating magna cum laude where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a minor in Government.
After college, he attended the University Of Missouri School Of Law, where he developed an academic passion for the study of law. During law school, Michael focused his study on alternative dispute resolution and international law. His focus earned him a certificate in dispute resolution from the University of Missouri School of Law and academic recognition for top grades in international comparative law. Michael left the University of Missouri School of Law in December of 2010, graduating earlier than his fellow class members.
In 2011, Michael became a licensed Texas attorney after passing the Texas Bar Exam. He moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to join a large personal injury law firm. There he provided pre-litigation assistance to clients injured in motor vehicle accidents and negotiated large settlements with insurance companies for his clients of that office. He moved on to Bee County to work for Texas Rural Legal Aid providing indigent criminal defense before coming back home to open his own law office.
Back home, Michael has turned all of his attention to the development of his own law practice. His primary areas of practice are criminal law, personal injury law, real estate law, administrative law, consumer law, and family law amongst other areas. In his spare time, Michael enjoys going fishing at the Boca Chica Beach. He still writes and records music.
