In 1974 in Scotts Valley, California, a 32-year-old feed store owner and upright bass player named Mickey started noticing that he was having difficulty getting through gigs without knee, back and foot pain. The age-old predicament of needing situation appropriate footwear but also wanting to be comfortable had, once again, reared its ugly head. Mickey was explaining his issue to an old cowboy one night and was told. "Wear a C'boy boot." Something that would change his life and present an opportunity for a business that is still going strong today. After finding a properly fitting cowboy boot, the knee, back and foot pain Mickey was experiencing miraculously vanished. The built-in arch support offered in a well-made, properly fit western boot, relieves stress from the wearer’s feet, knees, and back. The fire had been lit. Mickey, filled with zeal over how much of a difference a proper fit makes, decided to perfect the art of boot fitting and start his own business.
Since then, Mickey has become a veteran boot fitter, dealing with over two-hundred sizes and many popular brands, including Danner, Justin, Lucchese, Nocona, Red Wing, and White’s. Under the strict guidance of master boot fitter, Mickey, our staff has learned the importance and technique of fit. This, along with the fact that some doctors send patients with podiatric issues here to be fit in western boots, makes Mickey’s one of the few boot stores where customers can have full confidence that their fitting needs will be met and aching feet and backs will be a thing of the past.
