Wouldn’t do it again. My fiancé and I took this charter out for shark fishing. We caught NOTHING, we didn’t even get a bite! We saw one shark fin but that’s about it. I understand it’s never a guarantee with fishing BUT we paid over $700 and he only offered us more time to stay out there but we had prior obligations and couldn’t. Once my fiancé threw up from the rough waters he offered us more time if we came back… we live in CT….
Took out the family for a half day with Midnite Son Charters and they put us on the fish! Captain Brian is very knowledgeable and kept everybody comfortable and entertained with tight lines the whole trip. We had some younger kids on board and the guys were great making sure everyone was safe and having fun. Caught plenty of Sailfish and even took home some tuna for sushi later that night. Would recommend this charter 100% to anyone looking into offshore fishing in Sarasota and Siesta Key.
It’s taking me a bit to write this because I was not sure how to describe this well here goes.... Imagine being a toddler and it being your first time going deep sea fishing- talking about it for months leading up to the big day and you finally get out on a 1/2 day private charter that was NOT cheap might I add and not even getting to see a fish/ hold a pole...nothing... well that’s exactly what happened. We went out on midnite son back in July- 5 of us rented out a private charter and NONE might I emphasize NONE of us got to even Hold a pole let alone see a fish.. we paid for a boat ride on the ocean a very expensive boat ride. We were told when we got out there we couldn’t go far because of strong winds- first mistake if you are not getting what you paid for you should get a call that morning to reschedule etc due to weather conditions or at least make your decision to go before driving there- .. they reassured us that we would still catch fish. I’ve been waiting for the company to make it right- offer another day of fishing etc etc however nothing... the captain and his right hand were not rude and they did give us an extra 45 min out there however I feel this is not right nor fair to pay this kind of money and not even HOLD a pole... like at least have us catch bait fish.. my toddler just wanted to see a fish from the ocean.. overall I just don’t think this situation was handled correctly and the customer experience was not a good one so unfortunately I cannot recommend.
When you go fishing with Capt. Martel, two things will happen: 1 you'll catch lots of fish; 2 you'll learn a thing or two about real fishing! We went out fishing on the 1st of this new yea, and had a miraculous fishing: 24 king fish and a big brown shark! The sea, 10-15 miles out of Sarasota, is full of fish! After a 40-minute fight with the shark, he gave in and we could pull him up to the boat. But we let him go, with his new piercing at his mouth, because we were satisfied with this great blood-pumping experience! What excitement for both teens and adults and a great photographic opportunity! Thank you, Capt. Martel, for the chance you gave us to start off the new year in such a successful, rich, and wonderful way!
Awesome time, the captain is probably the most experienced guy in the area. We caught some barricudas, a huge grouper, and a couple other types of fish.
Who takes a fishing charter out fishing with no live bait. We trolled for hours with spoons, plugs on a planer...we caught one. All around us were chumming and using live bait fishing flat line. So we paid a fortune to watch many many other boats fish properly..
they are good at catching fish but there people skills are lacking. THE mate will cry if u don't tip him 200 dollars. So ad 200 dollars to price given when u book
Fishing gear in top knot has condition. Roomy boat with cabin. Tommy & Captain Brian were helpful, knowledgeable and kind! Would use again!
Easily caught over 100 fish...maybe 200...
