Great time at our Couples Campout! Spent 3 nights here. Nice walking trails. Clean bathhouse and good customer service. Spot number 34 is the best for large groups! But they also have a group camping area. We didn't know that before booking. But had a great time!
This is an awesome park!!! There are small and big camping spaces I would suggest site 31 or 32 These sites are super close to restrooms and spacious They are a bit close together but everyone does their own thing They have water and electricity I was told sites 50-60 did not have water or electricity but please double check this The bathrooms where clean except a few bugs which is understandable Do not leave the park without exploring around there is many things to do like walk the lake trails and enter the small swimming hole There is also a stairway that leads to a small stream and the sights are beautiful There are very beautiful cabins that you can reserve if camping is not for you I hope this review clarifies many questions
It is a beautiful State Park with lots to do. Cost to enter is $5 to spend the day. There is a couple lakes and a swimming area, multiple trails, picnic tables, cabins to rent, RV and primitive campsites. The trail loop I did was extremely flat and easy at .75 miles. I visited in winter and it was not busy at all. Hardly anyone was there the campgrounds had a decent amount of folks, though. I would recommend for any easy day hike experience.
Absolutely beautiful campground and state park. This place was full of happy and healthy wildlife. We saw our first gopher tortoise here, which was awesome. Lots of great hiking as well and large campsites. We hope to be back someday! Follow our full time travel journey through state and national parks on Instagram: @arndts.arent.staying.put
We had our first cabin stay here. A clean and well-maintained cabin with nice lake views is such a treat! Hope to go back to finish all the trails. We enjoyed our walk around the lakes.
Great park with very friendly volunteers! It's a nice place to relax, and there are a lot of walking trails to venture out on. There's also a bike trail right outside the gate that heads into town. The restrooms are very clean, the park is clean and it's not unusual to see a few deer! There are only a couple of drawbacks that aren't bad - as long as you know about them. First one...weekend war games - the park is very close to a base that has a lot of loud booms from weekend practices. If someone has PTSD, and they don't know that this activity is going on, it could cause them some agony. The restrooms at Turkey Hill are not handicap accessible. The trails to get to the restrooms are very sandy and make mobility a bit difficult if you have walking or stability issues. The showers and toilet stalls are not accessible with a wheelchair. The other restrooms may be ADA compliant, I didn't check them out. All in all, it's a great park that I'd visit again. We were there for about 14 days. Lots of great local restaurants in town.
We stayed in the last cabin and had a great 4 days of fun! Lots of deer and lakes. Not much fishing but awesome place to roam. Cabins are nice and come loaded with whats needed for the most part. Nice ravine where spring starts out of hillside.
It's a good park of old Florida. There are some hiking trails. The lakes are dried up, like most in town. It's a big problem here. So don't bring your kayaks but bring your bikes. We stayed at site 68 by the lake. Lots of families but it was quiet at night. The site isn't level & you'll need 2 water hoses to reach the water spicket.
What a beautiful park!!!! We will definitely be returning when we can spend more time. It's so pretty and very low-key. Hardly anyone in the park. We saw deer, birds, and very few people
We really enjoyed our day on the trails. It's Florida Northwoods, albiet manmade. The pines have been planted to create a habitat for the Sandhill cranes. We actually got to hear them calling to each other and saw a couple flocks flying overhead. There are cabins and RV spaces for rent as well as primitive camping areas. There are also pavilions and plenty of picnic spots for a day out.
