The Miillington Food Pantry serves families in need within the Millington city limits and annex reserve. The pantry feeds more than 4,000 people in the community each year. A nonprofit organization, the pantry is funded and stocked through monetary and food donations by members of the community, and staffed by volunteers.
To be eligible to receive assistance from the food pantry, persons must first complete a client eligibility form at the Millington Crisis Center, located just down the street from the pantry at 8130 Wilkinsville Rd. Persons must meet specific income criteria as established by the state of Tennessee. Those who receive assistance from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible.
Around 1983, Millington First United Methodist Church started a mission to feed the hungry in our own community. Our food pantry has continued since then to serve a very present need for those families in Millington who are struggling to have enough to eat. The church has faithfully remained committed to this mission with God's help, along with other churches, and concerned groups and citizens in our community.
