The Milton Fire District was organized at a meeting held June 24, 1905 at which time the necessary action was taken to organize a village district under Chapter 53 and other provisions of the Public Status of the State of New Hampshire.
Milton Fire Rescue operates as a call/paid Department. Personnel includes approximately 40 call firefighters and EMT's along with 2 full-time Firefighter/EMT's as well as 2 Full-Time Firefighter/EMT's sponsored by an AmeriCorps Grant in which the Milton Fire and Rescue Department acquired in 2011. The Department covers just under 800 calls each year. Providing Fire Suppression and Emergency Medical Services to the Town of Milton and Milton Mills, the Department is led by Chief Nicholas Marique, Assistant Chief Devon Pageau, and Deputy Chief Jacob Bourdeau. Central Station is located on White Mountian Highway, in Milton. This station houses Engine 3, Engine 4, Ambulance 1, Ambulance 2, Rescue 1, Forestry 1, OHRV 1, and Boat 1. Station 2 is located in Milton Mills on Jug Hill Road. This Station houses Engine 2 and Truck 1. Milton Fire and Rescue is also an active member of the Ossipee Valley Mutual Aid Association.
Milton, incorporated in 1802 in the North-Eastern section of Strafford County, is a township of 27,000 acres with a year round population of 4,525 which doubles during the summer months. Milton is located 40 miles from the State Capitol, Concord, and 20 miles North-West of the County Seat, Dover. The Spaulding Turnpike is easily accessible and brings Portsmouth within twenty minutes of travel time. Milton Three Ponds are the principal bodies of water forming with the Salmon Falls River makes Milton an incredibly pleasurable vacation destination. The Principal Villages are Milton and Milton Mills and both are on the boundary line between New Hampshire and Maine. Milton is on the North Conway branch of Boston and Maine Railroad which carries freight through the town. Milton Mills is located six miles North of the Three Ponds Village and two miles east of Route 16 (Spaulding Turnpike) on the Salmon Falls River.
