Wonderful park to sit and relax, or go for a walk or run while enjoying lovely views of the skyline. I did paid street parking on E Ohio St, it was 9.5$ for 2 hours. Then i did a short walk through the Ohio St. underpass to get to the park. The park is beautiful, its so pretty with wonderful beach and skyline views. There are a few benches where you can sit and appreciate the beauty of the lake and Chicago skyline. The sunset views are really pretty. There are also spots to setup your hammock.
Hidden gem of Chicago, my favorite park in Chicago. Stunning view of the skyline and great place to catch the practice air show. Park is in need of maintenance, but overall it’s an amazing park, not much crowded even during summer. Definitely a good place for a photo shoot as well.
Swaths of green lawn gently undulate between the fountains, setting the pools at subtly different levels. The pattern of circular fountains and connecting paths becomes apparent when viewed from the nearby high-rise buildings along Lake Shore Drive. The park also features a statue, Hymn to Water, by Milton Horn. On June 19, 1966, the City of Chicago posthumously dedicated the park to PFC Milton Lee Olive, III 1946-1965, the first African American recipient of the Medal of Honor in the Vietnam War. Along with the Art Institute of Chicago’s South Garden and Navy Pier, Olive Park is one of three Kiley landscapes in Chicago. Milton Lee Olive III November 7, 1946 – October 22, 1965 was a United States Army soldier and a recipient of America's highest military decoration — the Medal of Honor — for his actions in the Vietnam War. At the age of 18, Olive sacrificed his life to save others by falling on a grenade. He was the first African-American recipient of the Medal of Honor from the Vietnam War Wikipedia
This is a top skyline location for family photos, engagement photos, and wedding photos. Must See! It's also next to a beach which is awesome!
Great place to go for a walk, jog, bike ride ext. It is right by the lake and Navypier. Definitely one of the best places to get pictures of the beautiful skyline.
This is our my dog + me favorite place to go for a walk. It offers a beautiful view of the city. Does anyone know why it’s now locked up with a sign saying closed until further notice? I hope it reopens. It has enough space for shy dogs to walk without disturbance while also offering the space for friendly dogs to mingle and play. Truly we love it and I’m sure we’ve invaded dozens of proposal pictures here because it really does have some of the most beautiful views in the city! Please reopen soon
If you visit Navy Pier, please pay a visit to the Milton Lee Olive Park too! Unbelievable view of the Chicago city and lake, and very accessible whether you are walking or biking Also close to the Ohio Street Beach but the ambience is uniquely refreshing for walking, hanging out with friends, doing photoshoots, or reading! P.S. I have seen some people take wedding & engagement photoshoots here, and I’m sure they will be memorable !!
A wonderful place for a walk or bike ride in any season with wonderful views of the city of Chicago and Lake Michigan. Lots of people take their dogs there while enjoying the views and giving their pets some exercise. If the water fountains were working it would be even better so thought should be given to restoring them.
This is hands down of of my favorite parks in the city. Where to begin... It is perhaps the most overlooked park, as Navy Pier practically borders it to the Southeast, and millions of people go there, but millions also miss this park... It has huge beautiful old trees that lead you down a path to massive open fields perfect for dogs to run around in or play some pick up sports in. It has these huge, unique water drains that fill up after strong rains and create some amazing visual / photographic opportunities. The best though is hugging the park lakeside where you get panoramic views of Chicago's beaches, architecture, and lakefront that continues on for miles, on a clear day you day see all the way up to Northwestern University. There's also a raised ledge over the water which again is great for getting pictures or feeling like you're floating over the water in the face of some brilliantly laid out cityscape. It's simple, if you visit Chicago, visit this park. If you live in Chicago and haven't go, Go. I'm native to the city and love this spot for pitching a hammock and watching sunset!
The place is beautiful. Great photo op. The cops ruin the atmosphere.
