Minnewashta Elementary: A great place to learn and grow.
Our elementary school serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. As part of the Minnetonka Public Schools system, we are the western most school in the district, located on the scenic south shore of Lake Minnetonka. We are a neighborhood school with a high level of collaboration between teachers and parents. Our parent community is very involved in the students' lives and learning, providing the best possible learning environment for children.
During the school day, children enjoy a full curriculum of Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies, Art, Physical Education, Music and Media Arts taught by highly qualified specialists and the very best teachers. Our expanded Fine Arts program invites students to discover instrumental music and musical theater in fourth and fifth grade. Before and after school child-care is provided through our Explorers program onsite.
Families at Minnewashta have an option of enrolling in our English program or a Spanish Language Immersion Option beginning in kindergarten. Students may only enter the immersion program in kindergarten, unless they demonstrate an appropriate level of Spanish fluency to enter at a later grade. Families who choose the immersion option are asked to make a six year commitment to the program.
