Mission Dolores Park

About

Unanimously voted the greatest place on earth.

Description

A Leave No Trace park, encompassing nearly 16 acres, Mission Dolores Park is one of San Francisco’s most popular destinations, the vibrant heart of its equally vibrant, culturally diverse neighborhood. Here you’ll find lush green lawns shaded by tall palm trees, a soccer field, six tennis courts, one basketball court, a multi-use court, a playground, and two off-leash dog play areas. Yes. Many festivals, performances, and other cultural events are held here, and on sunny afternoons people flock to the park to play, picnic, lounge, walk their dogs, and enjoy spectacular views of the city’s skyline and beyond.

Revisited this place on July 15, 2023 after a gap of almost 18 months and found it even more irresistible in appeal. Being a weekend, the place was packed with people who were having a good time sunbathing and relaxing with food, drinks, music and dance. Some were playing games, others playing with their dogs or just lying down on the sun soaked green lawns. The view of the City from the slopes of the park is gorgeous and you can get beautiful shots from different parts of the park. The best thing about the park was the peaceful co-existence of a large crowd of people. The atmosphere was very joyous and it seemed that people were celebrating Life, each in her or his own way. The park is maintained very well with the convenience of toilets within the park and restaurants and public convenience very close by. So, if you are in SF and want to have a feel of the City, head to this park on a sunny day!
It is one of the most beautiful and vibes-y locations in San Francisco. It was my fiest time there but absolutely want to go there again. Lots opportunities to get some sun, enjoy the food carts, play some games, or just have a picnic overlooking the park and downtown in the distance. Also, the public restrooms aren't too bad, loads of free street parking around, too. Restrooms: Generally, it is quite large in capacity and staff to keep them clean. Picnic area: Can get very busy on warm weekend evenings but still tonnes of space on the lush grass to setu up a picnic
The park is clean and is of decent size. It's a good place to chill with your friends and family. It has the view of SF skyline and it looks beautiful. There are benches as well on case you don't want to sit on the grass.
Mission Dolores Park, nestled in the heart of the city next to hipster Valencia and a short walk from the Castro, is an iconic hangout spot. From the hilltop at 20th & Church, you'll catch an epic downtown view with the Golden Fire Hydrant behind you read the plaque!. Perfect for a sunny birthday bash with friends, but watch out for busy weekends and hot afternoons. Pro tip: if you're chill about it, you can enjoy a beer, champs, or a puff, as long as the park police aren't around. Enjoy the good vibes! Restrooms: Not ideal but there’s a pissoire across from train tracks at the top of the hill.
Fantastic playground with beautiful views. Very busy in the summer with tons of summer camp kiddos, but still tons to do! The landscape around the area is very well maintained.
There was a protest Advocating for Women’s Reproductive Rights the day we went. It was incredible!! I love San Francisco Also gorgeous park and lots of vendors! Bring your cash, a blanket and a drink and you’re set
This park is a great place to visit. Came to this park multiple times. Recent visit was two days ago when people celebrated Pride week here and had Dyke March. A beautiful park. Restroom on both sides of the park.
Such a pretty park, with lots of space to do all kinds of activities. There are food and drink vendors all through out as well
Gorgeous park in incredible surroundings with view of the SanFran skyline and the bay etc. The bathrooms are decent and there's so much to do between the dog park and playground and tennis courts. Just beautiful.
