MAJ is dedicated to protecting every Mississippian's access to the civil justice system and ensuring accountability among wrongdoers.
Formed in 1962, the founding members consisted of a small group of dedicated lawyers who were determined to provide a unified voice for civil justice in the courtrooms of Mississippi. Today, more than 50 years later, the Mississippi Association for Justice has over 600 attorneys dedicated to representing people, not corporations. Our members are committed to protecting the health and safety of Mississippi families, to enhancing consumer protections, and to preserving each and every citizen’s right to trial by jury and access to the courts.
Since its inception, MAJ has been a steadfast defender of the civil justice system in Mississippi.
A core part of our mission starts in the Mississippi Legislature. Through exceptional leadership and vision, MAJ has worked hard to ensure that ordinary citizens always have a voice in the legislative process. Our legislative team works day-in and day-out to provide guidance and assistance to policy makers whose actions affect individuals' rights to seek help in our courtrooms.
Our members concentrate their time in the practice of Criminal Law, Domestic Relations/Family Law, Employment Law, Insurance Law, Personal Injury, Product Liability, Social Security, Veteran's Affairs, Workers’ Compensation Law, and more.
At MAJ, we continually strive to give our members a competitive edge in today's ever-changing legal climate by providing a host of valuable services including:
• Legislative Representation
• Cutting Edge Continuing Legal Education Programs
• Up-to-the-minute, practice-relevant information delivered direct to your desktop
• Local and statewide networking opportunities
MAJ is proud to have a united membership of attorneys committed to maintaining a civil justice system that protects all Mississippians.
As attorneys, we work to make sure any person who is injured by the misconduct and negligence of others can get justice in the courtroom, even when taking on the most powerful interests.
What we do is more important now than ever before because the drug and oil industries, big insurance companies and other large corporations dominate our political process -- and thus, people cannot depend on the political system to hold corporations accountable.
When corporations and their CEOs act irresponsibly by delaying or refusing to pay fair and just insurance claims, producing unsafe products, polluting our environment or swindling their employees and shareholders, the only place where Americans can hold them accountable is in our courts.
We are committed to strengthening the civil justice system so that deserving individuals can get justice and wrongdoers are held accountable. We oppose efforts to weaken basic legal protections and further stack the deck against average Mississippians. All Americans benefit when individuals represented by attorneys have a fair chance to get justice through our civil justice system.
