The National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA), founded by Wilhelmina Cole Holladay and Wallace F. Holladay, is located in Washington, D.C. It is the only museum dedicated solely to celebrating the achievements of women in the visual, performing and literary arts by housing, exhibiting, preserving and researching art by women. The permanent collection consists of more than 4,500 works in a wide range of styles and media -- from Renaissance paintings to modern photographs and sculptures.
The Mississippi State Committee/NMWA supports the National Museum of Women in the Arts, Washington D.C. and works to increase awareness of women artists in Mississippi.
The National Museum of Women in the Arts brings recognition to the achievements of women artists of all periods and nationalities by exhibiting, preserving, acquiring, and researching art by women and by teaching the public about their accomplishments.
