The American Physical Therapy Association is a national, professional organization representing more than 70,000 members. Its goal is to foster advancements in physical therapy practice, research and education.

Vision
Establish physical therapy as the preferred healthcare provider for all Missourians with neuromusculoskeletal conditions.
Mission
To advance and promote the profession of physical therapy, supporting its members in order to improve and advocate for the physical health and functional abilities of the individuals and communities they serve.
Goals
1. Missouri physical therapists and physical therapist assistants will recognize, appreciate, and understand the role and value of MPTA membership, resulting in an increase in membership and retention.
2. Increase public awareness and understanding of physical therapy and how to access services, affirming the physical therapist as the practitioner of choice for function and mobility.
3. The MPTA and its members will educate all Missouri legislators regarding physical therapist practice in order to implement state physical therapy legislative goals.
4. Provide leadership development to empower aspiring physical therapy leaders to understand, embrace, and promote a culture consistent with APTA’s vision.
5. Promote continuing education opportunities to allow for clinical practice development of all PTs and PTAs.
