****Edit: I was reached out to and this issue was corrected, they mailed me the missing money. Not many places would care to even do this, updating to 5 stars for effort to correct this situation, Thank you Rebecca!**** 2nd time visiting this event center, BEWARE! of concession stand. Was there for a reptile expo ans stopped at the food stand during my visit. I purchased a pretzel, soda and cheeseburger handed the attendee a $100 bill received $62.00 back and shame on me for not counting the cash back before I walked away... I was the only person in line at the moment and he was so distracted talking with a co-worker that he wasn't paying attention. It stinks to lose out on your money this day and age. I would have went back but I live out of state over an hour away. I'll never use cash at a concession stand at a event center again.
MJN Convention Center has made our year with Comicon 2023!! It is a beautiful center and any employee we came in contact with was very helpful and super nice!!!! We are getting tickets for some of the upcoming events as well! WELL DONE!!!!
Event center is incredibly rude and unprofessional, especially over their social media posts. They delete comments of bad feedback - really leaves a bad taste when a company is actively not being transparent nor holding themselves accountable if they can hide it.
Went to the wrestling even on Saturday great event but HOLY HELL the sound guy needs to be fired. I’m not sure how everyone at the event wasn’t deaf by how load the entrance music was plus the constant cracking from the speakers. Overall though 10/10.
If the show/act/event you want to see is going to be at the MJN convention center, then it is very likely it will show somewhere else in the tristate area within a few days. Do yourself a favor and make the drive to a different venue. ANY other venue, I'll gladly host you in my backyard and we will have a better time that anything at this place. If you have seen prior reviews, you will notice that the venue takes a "it's not our fault" approach and takes zero responsibility for issues. Perhaps some promoters do make it harder although other venues don't seem to have the same issues with those same promoters So let's focus on what the venue can control. Seating---If you have a bleacher seat, I'm so sorry. The seats are broken, our legs went numb from trying to balance the broken plastic seats without collapsing to the floor. If anyone walks up the aisle, it rocks everyone within 20 rows. The seats are so close you can hear the conversations not just from the people behind you, but from the people 10 rows behind you. If you have a floor seat...pray you aren't by the curtains, the angle is so extreme you won't be able to see anything. Restrooms. There are four women's stalls. Four. For a show like "Dancing with the Stars" where the crowd is majority female...how long do you think that line is? That has to be against code. And when I say four...I mean three, with the other stall having a broken lock that a restroom attendant opens and closes for the person using it. One would assume it would be cheaper to fix the stall than pay someone to have that job, but what do I know? Lighting. Not the lights the tour brought. The dim, depressing lighting in the venue. Parking. Approaching the convention center, one needs to make a decision to be in the left or right lane. As it was our first time at the venue, we chose left. It was the wrong choice. After waiting through a long line of cars, we approached the attendant who told us the parking garage was for reserved parking only, which we didn't have. I totally understand that it was full, but perhaps a sign at the first of the block would prevent that poor woman from having to turn away car after car? Getting back to the city garage after being turned away was no easy task. Staff. There were several guys in security shirts at the venue, which is appreciated. However, there are no ushers. Got a question where your seat is? Good luck. Need someone to intervene because the people behind you are shouting during the entire first act? Well, hope you took a conflict resolution class because you are on your own. Maybe the lady holding the bathroom door could have helped out, but...she was busy. So again, drive elsewhere, you will have a much better experience.
We saw John Mulaney last night at the Civic Center, he was amazing I highly recommend, but the civic center was absolutely the worst venue I've ever been to! The floor seats are on top of each other, unless you are a hobbit you're going to be crammed in and uncomfortable. This place had the worst crowd control before, during, and after the event, 3 security guys using metal detectors for hundreds of people, people were piling in after an hour + the show started unable to find their seats because we had to surrender our phones which I understand but there were no ushers to help these people find their seats. The food and drinks are ridiculously expensive typical but the crowd and seating issues are a safety issue.
Attended Daughtry concert Aug 2022. Security did nothing. They let people stand in the aisles where the paying customers couldn’t see the band. Also the venue is not really accommodating to handicapped patrons. Horrible security.
DO NOT GO TO AN EVENT HERE. I went to see John Mulaney whose opening act was Dan Levy. Got there at 6:40, show started at 7. The line was wrapped around the entire building & streets over. I did not get INSIDE the venue until 8 pm. John Mulaney was already on and I missed half of what I paid for. Seats were not labeled, and everyone got inside late and no one could find their seats. Mulaney even stopped the show to ask what was going on. They should be offering everyone in attendance a refund. Having 4 people working security for a crowd that large is absurd. I will never go back to this place.
Attended the John Mulaney comedy show. It was a phone free show. The venue was horrible. Longest and slowest lines I’ve ever waited in for a show in a smaller arena. 4 security guards for entry. Had more security in the parking garage. Luckily we got to our seats just as John went on stage, but we missed the opener! 1/2 way thru the show people were still being seated. Phone free show meant they wrote seat assignment in post it notes. John even asked what the problem was from the stage. When leaving, they funneled everyone out 2 doors. Long line again and left the merch table right in the middle of the exit paths. MHCC needs to do better!!
Don't attend an event here, or if you do, don't park in the garage attached to it. We recently drove up from NYC area to attend the Mid-Hudson Reptile Expo. We spent more time exiting the garage area than we did at the expo. Shame on the people running this event space but especially the garage. It was the perfect example of urban/rural neglect. It is a dilapidated civic disaster.
