MMoCA Auditorium

An amazing free museum. The contemporary Art is well displayed with some breathtakingly interesting art. Additionally the rooftop gives an amazing view of downtown Madison. The statues on the rooftop are also wonderful. The staff is very helpful and the museum was well taken care of. This definitely worth a visit if you are in downtown Madison.

I recently visited Madison from the Chicago suburbs for a concert with my daughter. The next day we decided to check out the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art. While it wasn’t what I expected, I was pleasantly surprised. I LOVED the Young at Art exhibit. I can’t even imagine how it would feel to be a child and have art displayed in a museum!! What an absolutely wonderful thing! It was my first time visiting Madison. The employees were very pleasant and helpful. Attached are some photos of my favorite pieces.

To complain about a free museum, one in which I took my two young children and helped provide the setting for a fun family evening, would be rather tacky. So, I won't do that. Many of the pieces showcasenhow talented the younger, local scene is. Upstairs on 2 was a collection with a lot of emotion and depth. The top floor was closed at the time of my adventure. Read the door on the second floor before entering and enjoy yourself. If you and whomever you visit with enjoy art, I don't see how you wouldn't have a fine time.

A superb space, all around. First, the museum is easily accessible if you are walking downtown, and if you drive, there are several reasonably priced municipal parking garages located very close. Second, the museum is free to walk through but make a donation, don't be THAT person!. Finally, the gallery space is not overwhelming an allows time to really take in the work of the artists. A visit to Madison is not complete without a stop here.

This is one of the best museums you can visit, and it's FREE. I come down to State St a few times per year and visiting MMOCA is always the first thing on my list. The exhibits are so unique every time I visit, and while art is subjective and I don't "love" everything, I find that it's always worth my time to come take a look. The staff are friendly, it's always nice to go take a break on the roof, and I've never had a bad time here.

The selection of art was not that big, but it was still a good experience with a decent amount of interesting exhibits. It's perfect to spend a couple of hours with a friend on a slow weekend day. Plus, it's free!

Love to visit the always interesting exhibits at this museum. The museum store was so amazing and I hope it will open again in the future. I always found the best gifts there! Thank you for Art Fair on the Square. A joyous event with booth after booth of wonderful world class art.
