Eta Sigma Gamma: Health Education Honorary Society, Beta Kappa Chapter at Minnesota State University, Mankato
Eta Sigma Gamma is a health honor society at Minnesota State University, Mankato. We are a professional group that emphasizes Health Education and scientific research. We work in the MNSU community to promote healthy living and lifestyle choices. As a health honor society, we recognize academic achievement and promote professional standards and ethics. We also provide networking activities among health educators and related professionals. ESG is a great way to get involved, meet people who are in the same major, and meet potential employers and future professors. If you are a current member when you graduate, you will receive chords to wear with your cap and gown.
Membership requirements include:
-College of Allied Health and Nursing major
-15 hours each semester (meetings, events, volunteering, research, promoting ESG)
-2.7 GPA when initiated (maintain a 2.5)
-$50.00 Dues each year
As a chapter of a national Health Education Honorary, the purpose of Eta Sigma Gamma, Beta Kappa Chapter is to elevate teaching, research and service in the health education profession. In order to be a member, students must be a College of Allied Health and Nursing major. Students must also maintain a GPA of 2.7. Chords are given to students who are current members at graduation. ESG is a great way to meet people in your major, network with faculty, and meet potential employers. It also gets you involved around campus and the community in health related activities.
Our goals are:
-To provide the opportunity to become acquainted with and enjoy the fellowship of students and faculty whose professional interests are dedicated to the Health Education discipline.
-To keep the members informed of recent trends in Health Education.
-To promote professional growth and leadership.
-To elevate professional standards and ethics of the discipline.
-To stimulate and recognize research, service, and academic achievement within the membership.
-To assist in the professional preparation of Health Education students and faculty at Minnesota State University, Mankato.
