The mission of the Mohonk Preserve is to protect the Shawangunk Mountains of New York by inspiring people to care for, enjoy, and explore the natural world. By both protecting fragile natural systems and allowing access to the land, the Preserve serves as a model for conservation in a region where many people seek outdoor experiences.
Mohonk Preserve offers award-winning environmental education programs to the public and area school children and provides a "living laboratory" of land for scientific research on climate change, wildlife, water quality, and other critical concerns. Check out the Events page for great programs!
We work with landowners to create voluntary and financially beneficial arrangements for them so they can leave a conservation legacy and protect their properties forever.
