So I’m usually really weary about trying new foods from other cultures, as they usually use spices that my body has a hard time tolerating. But HOLY MOLEY!!! The jerk chicken was ASTOUNDING!! The gentle spice paired beautifully with the more subtle and muted flavors of the rice & beans. Juicy and super tender. The veggies were delicious and a wonderful combo to beat the spice of the chicken. My fiancé had the curry chicken and he loved it as much as I did!! We might just have to make this a semi regular spot for us for date nights
Absolutely DELICIOUS! First off… I highly recommend the jerk chicken! The veggies & rice are sooooo good! Curry chicken was good too. The jerk chicken blows any jerk chicken I ever had outta the water by far!!! Definitely coming back again.. five stars to Mommy
1st time eating haitian food, so I played it safe and ordered fried pork with fried green plantains n veggies n it was amazing... the pork was flavorful and crispy and the veggies is spicy n delicious... I will be trying other dishes soon.
The food was was out of this world. The flavors were so authentic to the Haitian culture and the service was lovely. I can’t recommend this place enough. You MUST try it!!
This was my first time getting food here after being recommended by coworkers, and I am so happy I decided to follow through and give them a shot! I got the legume with rice and beans and a side of Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious, and had generous portions! There are quite a few more things I saw on the menu I'm already preparing to try for my next visit! So glad I now know about Mommy's!
AMAZING PLACE! I went there for the first time Saturday evening. With me being an Irish Italian guy, .. I don't get to have food like this too often at all, especially in my neck of the woods in Plainfield. It was very well worth the drive. The Caribbean Haitian food, culture and their hospitality is great. I had the JERK CHICKEN and some other sides. It was AMAZING, HOMEMADE FROM THE HEART & VERY AUTHENTIC !! I got to meet the nice lady known as "Mommie" and the rest of the crew. Great friendly group of people. I'll definitely be back for their food again. I highly recommend Mommies Delicious Food to anyone!
This is the best Caribbean food on the NE seaboard hands down. I've tried all the jerk chicken from Boston to New Haven and Mommie's has the depth of flavor, the juiciest texture and the authenticity that doesn't compare to any others that I've tasted..not to mention the prices are fair and worth every penny. The chef is consistent too! I can always count on the exact same flavor and the generous portions every single time. I love EVERY entree that comes out of kitchen; the curry chicken, the oxtail, the fried snapper, the legumes. Every one is so satisfying and fulfilling. I can't rave enough about the pikliz as well! I might sound corny but as a true foody I drive 40 minutes each time to Mommies knowing I am not going to be let down. It's a real treat for me to be able to count on excellent food that takes me straight to Haiti. This is a 10 out of 10 for me and I hope more people get a chance to give thanks and praises to a chef who unequivocally satisfies my foody soul. THANK YOU CHEF MIRALINDE!!
Authentic homemade Caribbean food. That's should be all I need to say to get you to go here and give it a try. Warning they make everything fresh so when they run out, that's it for the day. When I got there around 7pm, they were out of almost everything besides curry chickened and a curry stewed turkey. Both of which tasted amazing. I ended up getting the curry chicken which was tender and moist and full of curry flavor. See pics for reference!
This is a covid 19 takeout review. All food is eaten fresh in the vehicle. This was an outstanding experience. It started with the friendly people running it. Great people and they had me taste oxtail and then eggplant. Just to taste them. And they were great. I ordered Jerk chicken and some bouletfried meatballs. Great flavor in everything I tried here, just be forewarned it is a little spicy. But I can't stress enough the great flavor in the food here. On a scale from 0-10 I would rate this 9.8.
Highly, highly recommend! Tried the jerk chicken & curry chicken plates, red beans/rice & pickled salad on the side. So delicious- the food is cooked & seasoned perfectly, the staff are lovely, and the portions are generous. This is on my list of favorite places!
