At Monkey Bar Gym NW (MBG), we understand both high-level athletic performance and physical limitations. We train professional athletes, weekend warriors, mothers/fathers/kids, firefighters, grandmothers, and cancer survivors and everyone in between. We welcome anyone, as each workout is tailored to your individual skill level.

MBG workouts are challenging, fun, and rewarding, and routine is different so you'll never get bored. Whether you sign up for one-on-one coaching or our hour-long classes, you will get individualized attention from our professional instructors to walk you through each technique safely.

MBG specializes in natural movements, functional fitness, body-weight training and resistance training. Rather than using traditional machines, MBG focuses on ropes, kettlebells, sandbags, tires, and the weight of your own body.

I started working out here about a year ago. I initially signed up because I was interested in doing Jiu Jitsu but started doing work outs on the Monkeybar side of the gym and really fell in love! My membership included unlimited access to both sides, which was great because the functional training really pairs well with my martial arts! The trainers here are awesome and are always able to work around my injuries and give personal time to each member in the class. They have members set and write down goals, and take your measurements so you are able to see your progress. They also cater to your experience level, making the classes appropriate for all abilities... beginners and advance alike. I like the small group classes because it motivates me to get my workout done because we are all working out together, and the members at the gym are really friendly. Definitely a huge family atmosphere. During the summer they held bbq potlucks every week! It's SO much more personal than the big chain gyms... I absolutely love this gym and I will keep coming back!
I've been going to this gym for about two years. Greg is an awesome trainer and really knows his stuff. He is super helpful and always willing to come up with alternative exercises to suit any injury or concern you may have. They also do nutrition plans and measurements and fitness goals to help you continue to achieve results over time. I have tried other gyms in the past, but this has been by far the best and the only one that has kept me motivated to keep coming back and seeing continued results. The atmosphere is also very laid back, there isn't any intimidation or pressure from others, but the trainers will make sure you are doing your best work to see the results. I would highly recommend them to anyone.
As soon as I joined this gym, I was hooked. It quickly become a part of my life. The instructors, professors, and coaches are world class. They actually compete at the national level. Thier lifetime of experience allows them the break down each technique piece by piece. This attention to detail makes training and working out safe and more efficient. They keep you honest, motivate, push just you the right amount. The members are some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Since I started, I lost 20 pounds the first year and have had no problem maintaining the weight, my flexibility and body awareness have significantly improved, and I am literally twice as strong. I can't imagine myself anywhere else.
I have had a wonderful experience so far at this gym. Greg is helpful and knowledgable, and a pleasure to work with. Daniel Eng Coach Dynamo is a very talented individual and has helped my striking immensely in the last year that I have worked with him. My BJJ attendance has been extra spotty for my own dumb reasons, but the times I have been on the mat have been great. The professors and advanced students have a great attitude and are very interested in helping everyone improve. Great community surrounding it all. I recommend this place, go there and get better at stuff.
The Monkey Bar Gym is by far the best gym I have ever been too. Training is specific to your needs, abilities, and goals. All of the trainers are top notch. The people that go there are friendly and welcoming. It is quite possibly the only gym I have EVER gone to consistent basis!
You will simply not find a more emotionally attached personal trainer and fitness professional around. Greg Jones cares, he is always available, and his knowledge is unsurpassed. From nutrition to workout strategies, he will surpass your expectations if you follow his direction. He is amazing. I highly recommend!
Wonder why I didn’t knew about Monkey bar gym earlier. Greg and DaMaar are experts trainers. Training focus is on Strength, stability, balance, flexibility.. One will definitely see difference in their body if they follow the program and it's a must try gym for anyone working on desks for long hours.
I've got to share the news! I just lost 30 lbs here in 2 months and it was fun! The instructors are awesome! These guys have a great rapport with all their students, and have a youth program that my kids just love to go to also! I've been to a lot of gyms, gone through ton of personal trainers, and let me tell you, these guys are probably the most knowledgeable guys I've been to and are just great on motivation! Do yourself a favor and check these guys out, they do everything from kickboxing, to jui jitsu, functional training, boot camps, kettlebells, and a ton more. I love these guys and can't thank them enough!
Our teenage boys have been visiting the monkey bar gym for the past 1.5 years. Our family likes the personalized instruction Greg provides focusing on technique, fitness and diet. Our boys feel part of a family and don't feel intimidated training with people 20 years older. Our boys take the conditioning, strength and youth sports classes.
This gym has two areas. One with free weights etc and the other for jiu jitsu. The training part is Not crossfit style and I’m very happy about that. They want you do the workouts at your own pace. DeMarr one of the coaches has been amazing - he watches out for your form and mobility and recommends workout variations depending on your condition. I’m just starting this gym at the moment and will review this again in the future if necessary!
