The area is beautiful. The campground itself has been around for a long time and I’m sure in its day it was a gem. The laundry facilities and shower houses have gone down hill. The rules continue to get stricter. I felt like I was at a fancy resort that was a dirt road campground. The full timers come up for the season and take all the full hook up spots and if one leaves they all know each other and allow for another they know to move in. They will move their vehicles and “hold spots” for each other. It seems like if your not a part of their click, you are just an outsider visiting. The older staff members seemed to be very nice. The younger staff members have lost all sense of what customer service is and how to take care of those helping cover their wages. We also had unpleasant interactions with whom we believe is the Owner’s Wife, or so we were told that is who she was. She evicted my Aunt for us having a dog near the cabins in the parking lot, we walked the dog to say good night to her! The whole story is too much to share. They took my Aunts deposit and last day of rent for a large cabin. She then proceeded to kick out my whole family telling us we were not welcome there if we didn’t follow the rules and dogs aren’t allowed in certain areas. She wouldn’t talk to us calmly and allow for us to ask questions. After the thousands we have spent here, we won’t be coming back. This is the first negative review I have written online and the purpose for this review is so that hopefully no one else has to go through what we went through. Especially if your on vacation.
You can't ask for a more idyllic spot. The lake is beautiful, the cabins are quaint and the grounds... Breathtaking. The local diner has lots of food and a full bar.Rooms: 5/5
This place is nice and clean. The. Staff are horrible with bad attitude. Very racist if you"re not white. They think just because they own the resort, they own you. As much as I like this place, I I'll never give them my business. My money spent everywhere, except helping racist businesses. he think they own you. The food is expensive and so are the groceries
This campground is in a beautiful location on the lake, but aside from that, the experience here was nothing short of a nightmare. First, the employees there were mostly rude and condescending and they were quick to find fault with guests who may not have realized the extent of their rules. Don't get me wrong, I like common sense rules and believe we all need to respect and follow rules that are established. However, to some degree, I also think that the campground employees and owners need to offer clients a friendly, safe environment where clients are given the benefit of doubt when a rule appears to be broken. Second, the number of highly agressive bears in camp are nothing shy of the resposibility of the owners not taking enough action to prevent these encounters. I live in bear country, and the bears 2 cubs, mama and a 4th, adult that we encountered in this campground are far more accustomed to humans than they should be. They are dangerous and unpredictable and were seen charging at campers. These are exactly the kind of bears that require removal, or, at the very least, require stronger measures to instill fear in them. The security does nothing but drive around, spotlighting these bears, but fails to produce any real attempt to scare these bears off. Flash bangs, bear spray? Something needs to be done before a camper gets mauled for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is a private campground, so any wild animal encounters, while expected, are the responsibility of the owners, but they are too busy blaming their customers for the problem, rather than mitigating the danger to their customers. Third, this campground is first come, first serve, so don't expect anything when you arrive, especially since they are so rude when you call to get information on getting a campsite or RV spot with hookups. SOL if you drove hours expecting to find the type of spot you need/want and there are none! So much better off going with a campground that accepts reservations in advance. I've camped, hunted and lived in all types of wilderness my entire 50+ years and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. So disappointing to even need to write a bad review for such a beautiful area, but I think I'll stick to national and state forest campgrounds in the future.
This place is amazing! My family and I had a great time. The restaurant and little store so close by made things super convenient. Don't feed the animals! Rooms: We stayed in the cabins. They were clean and comfy. No microwave Nearby activities: We rented the pontoon, it was nice for fishing and just cruising around the lake. Fits 8people. They have tons of walking and hiking trails, easy and more challenging ones. They had a nice place to buy fishing supplies and a great place to clean your catches Safety: We felt pretty safe. There are employees monitoring the entire property all day and night Walkability: The store and restaurant was very close to our cabin Food & drinks: The clam chowder and Cadillac Margarita are off the charts. Everyone was so accommodating.
Absolutely love this place! You're secluded in nature and still have the small convenience store and cafe so that you don't feel completed isolated. Always super friendly staff, always clean restrooms unless there's an inconsiderate camper there before you, but the staff take care of them regularly. They have showers as well. Beautiful lakes and trees and mountains. It's bear country, so definitely abide by their bear rules unless you want your camp torn up. We go every year and it's always sad leaving it.
Horrible horrible experience we have been coming since I was a kid and this year we went and rented a platoon boat and it broke down in the middle of the lake and they basically called us a liar and the older gentleman that works at the boat house that fixes the boats told us that it’s broke down before but they don’t believe us. It’s so very sad how they treat their customers and the amount of respect the owner herself has! The owner is terrible when she called and wont even let you get a word in and hangs up the phone I’m so upset with the treatment we received all we asked for was another day on a boat that wasn’t broke down and ruined my kids yearly vacation after they lost their grandma during covid. They refused that I even asked them if they could possibly get a boat next year for the day and later decided to send us a check for a refund but said we aren’t allowed back there for their mistake! Punishing us for their boat having issues I am in a total loss for words. They don’t care about their customers and treat you really horrible. When I was a kid I honestly can say it was like family going there now it’s terrible! I feel like they only care about money and not about making things right for their customers. For the owner herself to even call her customer a liar is beyond me. God knows the truth and it’s really sad you would tell someone that is telling the 100% truth that we can’t come back it was our family tradition. Also she said if we showed up she threaten to call the sheriff. Absolutely disgusting she will only show her true colors if you have any kind of issue.
Cheap boats and, well cheap boats. Broke down in middle of lake for over 1 1/2 hours and floated to the far end before boat would start again. Drove it straight in. Guy tells me he will check it out . No refund or nothing. Screw this place. Will not be back
Been coming here 40 years. Started out for a week at a time. Then I worked for a school district and got my summers off. Then I retired and we come for the season, late April to October. Beautiful lake views and nice fishing and kayaking. Thank you Annett's.
Very difficult to get a FHU RV site, first come first serve, no reservations. Other camping spots usually not a problem. Otherwise a great facility.Rooms: 4/5
