Don't know why it says skate park but yes Owens park has a great one! We were @ the fall festival and had a blast on the bouncy houses! They had a hayride and other activities .
The pavement is as rocky as the path leading up. They keep it locked until 4pm. You have to wear a helmet and you have to sign in. They pay someone to watch the park and make sure you follow the rules
No stars- all wood not weather treated. Not regulation asphalt. Huge craters running from end to end every 10feet. All ramps warped and skate wheels bust through easily. Easy insurance pay-out$$$ for the willing. Good bones, local petition or fundraisers could easily repair the ramps and ground properly for under 20k. Good luck to the HS and their 12 b-ball courts and 3 hockey rinks with a haggard looking busted skate park smack dab in the middle of it all.
Park is total junk. Not maintained at all… Like in any way. Ramps are warped, wood has holes in it, the pavement is so rough you really can’t ride a skateboard. They pay people full time to make you sign in and yell at you for your helmets. At this point it needs to be demolished or completely overhauled from the pavement up.
Disappointed in the state of the paving and ramps. Clearly haven't been maintained in a good while and needs some TLC. Only skatepark within 30 minutes of Rowan though so not many other options.
Pavement is rough for skateboarding. The hours are miserable for older riders. The steert park is a better set up for bikes. Skateboarders may find it hard to keep speed up. The mini ramp is fun, now that there isnt holes all over the place. It only took them 2 years to re-layer it and they had the whole park closed for almost a year since the ramps were falling apart. The skate guards are also the worst. Some of them chase you around with a clip board making you sign in if the gate is open. If you find someone to open the gate, becouse they just dont unlock them at opening time unless someone wants to use the park. They also always act like it's a huge inconvenience to unlock it. I always get asked if I have a helmet when I do finally track someone down. It always feels like I'm being asked that in hope that I say no, so they dont have to do their jobs. I say that only becouse this happens constantly and my response is always the same. "I'm old I wear a helmet voluntary not becouse you tell me to". Yet I'm always asked about my helmet it's as if my giant backpack full of gear is invisible. The only plus is the local kids are cool and everyone gets along.
Skate parks claims to be open, I show up and the whole park is locked with chains and pad locks. Not one sign in the entire park stating why the park is closed. I'll just have to assume it's COVID related. Update your hours of operation online and post something at your physical park, every other park that is closed has managed to do so.
Skateboarders, be warned!!! It is not at all suited for skating but perfect for BMX biking. the ramps and the asphalt are in horrible condition making it a safety hazard to skate. There are tripping hazards on just about all the ramps due to insufficient maintenance and constant pounding of bikes. The asphalt is very rough and has long wide ruts running the entire lenght of the park. It's a problem with small, hard skateboard wheels. However its not a problem for bikes. It's supposed to be supervised but very seldom does the person come out of the building. The atmosphere is not very skater- friendly; bikers pretty much rule the place and will fly over top you and snake you. Skaters, DON"T waste your time coming here. Instead go to Washington Lake park. The atmosphere, and overall quality of skate experience is 100% better, a difference of night and day!!!
Looked okay from the parking lot, but it's a terrible park. It is so neglected, I feel bad for the local kids not having a decent park to skate. The high school is 100 yards away from this park and the middle school is very close as well. The skatelite is rotten and has holes in it! Which is strange because skatelite is designed to be easily replaceable, so maintaining it is not hard. Hope they can fix this up or better yet tear it down and start fresh. Its worth it, it's in a nice area with a lot of room to create.
So bad peaple say it great for bmx only cant skate or skooter horendes staff they come up with wxuses to not let u in the put in in lock and key DO NOT GO WHEN IT RAINS THEY SAY IT "WET" BUT ITS CLEARLY DRY AND WHEN U COME BACK WHEN ITS DRY THE SAY THE RAMPS WET EVEN THO I IS NOT WET? I would rather eat glass then to come here again
