The Montana Space Grant Consortium was established in 1991 as a component of NASA's National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. The Montana program is one of a national network of 52 Consortia, working to strengthen aerospace research and education in the United States.
The Montana Space Grant Consortium embraces the goals and objectives established by the National Space Grant Program, as captured in the vision statement:
"The National Space Grant College and Fellowship program is a national network of colleges and universities working to expand opportunities for Americans to understand and participate in NASA's aeronautics and space programs by supporting and enhancing science, and engineering education, research, and outreach programs."
