Montessori preschool ages 18 months through kindergarten
Welcome to the Montessori Academy of Northwest Indiana and Valparaiso. Teachers are trained in the Montessori approach and provide all day and half day educational programs in a supportive environment which nurtures the spirit of children ages 18 months to 6 years. We offer full and half day classes 3 and 5 days a week. A beautifully prepared experience awaits your child. The Montessori materials attract and support your child’s learning. An active, hands-on approach enables your child to discover the world around them. Multi-age level children work and play together, mutually respecting one another, as well as the environment. Self-directed learning, freedom within limits, and noncompetitive activities contribute to your child’s sense of self-esteem.
Areas of interest are developed to introduce to your child: Math, Arts, Grace Care of Self Music, Language, Science, Grace Geography, Art, Practical Life Sensorial Courtesy, History Movement, Field Trips. Our Educational Goals are: Develop independence and self-confidence, Encourage choice, creativity and imagination, Build self-esteem, Foster self-motivation, Provide a sound academic base, Enhance social development and cooperation. Our Toddler Goals and Objectives are: Order Self-Direction, Concentration, Coordination, Cooperation, Social Skills, Gross/Fine Motor Skills, Develop Sensory Skills, Expanding Their Language, Number Recognition, Science (Identifying and Naming)Health/Nutrition/Safety, Creativity (Developing Art and Imagination)The Toddler program is designed for children 18 months to 3 years of age. The children are offered a small, secure environment and given the time they need to develop inner discipline, learn to be actively independent and improve coordination. We teach PRESCHOOL 3-6 YEARS Olds in a Montessori environment, there is no specific, formal curriculum to be followed each day. A session’s activities fall into one or many of the following areas, which form an integrated, open-ended curriculum; one which permits each individual child to learn at his own pace, and maximize his interests in specific areas.
