Not a very good experience overall and I won't stay there again. The air conditioner did not work in the first room I was given. The second room the AC "worked" but did not blow any cold air. Same with my coworkers room. Beds were uncomfortable and both the bed and bedding are very outdated. The only reason why I'm giving 2 stars is because the food was pretty good.
Cool little motor lodge and reasonable prices. We actually left the Canaan Motel in the middle of our week long trip due to the absolutely horrible people that now own/run the place I left them a review as well if you're interested in comparing motels in the area. TL;DR: DO NOT stay at the Canaan Motel. So far, the people at the Motor Lodge have been EXCELLENT! They've been very helpful and attentive. The rooms are clean and cozy. And the fact that they have a restaurant IN the Lodge certainly doesn't hurt. You're mileage may vary on the specifics/particulars of each room as there seem to be little differences from room to room from what i understand, it's under fairly new ownership and they're in the process of renovating the rooms. But if you're looking for friendly staff and reasonable prices, check the Motor Lodge out first.
Booked a great rate and great room. My daughter slept all night long. Staff there is awesome and friendly. Felt safe as there is someone there 24/7. Food was good and the snow mobile delivery is the best. Thanks guys. Jeff from Rhode island
People were nice...when you could find staff. The room was dirty. The bedding felt unclean. Mattress or boxspring was broken and creaked loudly when you tried to roll over. Pillows as flat as pancakes. After calling to speak to management, now twice, about someone having spent the day in the room while we were gone, NO ONE has called me back. We left a day early because we had to change the sheets and they were not shocked at the idea of someone just hanging out in the room. To be clear...none of our things were touched, but they had been in the bed, the curtains were open which I KNOW I closed, the windows unlocked, and lights left on. It was very odd. If I was with the guys traveling on a hunting trip...this would be a find place to squat. Traveling with a teenaged daughter...not so much.
The food was good but the portions were so small. My margarita had no salt on the glass, and was too sour. Not worth the money I paid. I have eaten there before and it was great so I was disappointed in the menu change.
this is both a motel and bar/restaurant. The hotel Wi-Fi which is free is about 2.5 megabits and the restaurant is really like a sports bar. I stayed at the hotel when it was quite cold outside and the room had a more than adequate heater to keep the room warm. Seems to be the bed has flannel sheets which is a nice touch It was in my opinion far too noisy in the restaurant and the food was not that good for dinner. There was a jukebox there and some people would put money in it had it would be quite loud although the bartender / cook did turn it down now and then. However there are not a lot of choices around Dexter and certainly the room was very comfortable and quiet
If I could give this Motel a negative score I would. WOULD NOT EVER GO BACK AND WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO ANY ONE. First we call to see when we can check in. We were told after noon, we show up and go to check in were asked not to go in the room yet cuz they had a plumber coming to fix a leaky faucet. So we come back about 2-3 hours later to find a note on the door to check in with the office. The part that was needed was not in so we had to be moved. We got to the new room and noticed something was off with one of the double beds. We uncovered it and there was a twin mattress on the double box spring. The AC did not work right and would not cool the room, the blankets felt like they were horse blankets, the mattresses were only about 3 inches they were very discount mattresses. The only thing that was going for this motel is the room was clean. We were to stay for 2 nights and had to leave after one it was so bad. Asked for a refund on the 2nd night and was told the owner was busy and would call me back but never called back.
I absolutely would NOT recommend this place! My daughter, grandson, and I checked into the motel we enter a lobby that was unattended, we waited for so.eo e to appear, my daughter found a clerk at the bar. The female employee took payment of the room via my credit card. Never asked for ID. We we very sternly warned to not smoke in the room or the credit card would be charged 200.00$. The employee then pointed to a sign and repeated "I will charge your card. We were given a room key. We entered the room. After a very long drive from Cape Cod Massachusetts to Dexter ME traveling with a little dog we wereoomkng forward to ordering dinner and relaxing and spending time together. Well that was it to be. We noticed there was not a TV in the room so my daughter went to the lobby to report this, while she was doing this my grandson and I proceeded to get our things from the car and we we're preparing to get settled I , I pulled back the bedspread a d was SHOCKED to find d a large tear in the bottom bed sheet, the sheets were rumpled and filthy the pillow cases were disgusting. When my daughter returned from the lobby she was veryy upset that we discovered the above conditions she again went to the lobby the employee gave my daughter a set of sheets and my daughter returned and proceeded to strip the bed and it was then we discovered a torn filthy mattress cover, the sheets were changed and we didn't have clean pillow cases so again my daughter goes back to the lobby, the employee several very aged mismatched pillow cases, and made a remark " Don't you want to check the towels too make sure they are clean." Daughter returned from lobby and did in fact check the towels not only very old mismatched but also very dirty, that .was the last straw, again my daughter goes to the lobby, this time the employee offers us a other room , this one has a seven inch TV two beds but no heat. We did not even check the sheets or the towels, my daughter made her last trip to the lobby with credit card in hand a d demanded a refund! I still cannot believe the employee handed a change of sheets and had the paying customer change that bed! We ended up having to drive almost a hour to find another motel. We took pictures and intend to contact the owners and BBB and Maine Chambers of Commerce.
I love it here...the bartenders on the weekends need to learn a little better customer service. When your the singer of the band playing there and you get skipped over after waiting for ten minutes to get a drink..that has a little something to be said..
