My colleague and I went to an early dinner at Moro’s on a Wednesday evening. The weather outside was a bit inclement, thus there was only one other table occupied for dinner. The ambiance is right out of the 1960’s Sinatra-era. The servers are tuxedoed, white line table cloths, etc. Our server was great, giving us his full attention. The menu offered a good variety, however, several items were no longer available for the evening. However, the waiter was quick to rattle-off about a dozen special dishes for the evening, not on the menu. We began the dinner with a table-prepared salad and fresh bread. This was followed by the soup of the evening, New York-style chowder. My main course of eggplant parmesan was excellent, some of the best I’ve had. We were stuffed, so we did not have dessert. The waiter brought out a nice bowl of fresh whole-fruit and nuts for our pleasure. Overall it was a wonderful experience at this family-owned and operated restaurant. Be prepared for the prices, though….almost $50 for the eggplant.
The place is good, nice friendly and attentive service, but the food is just ok. The Marcela vail didn't impressed me. The fettuccine was probably the only good thing and I have actually had better at bucca di bepo which I actually don't even really like lol. The atmosphere was really cozy and warming, and once again the service is really good, attentive and amicable. Recommended.
My husband and I are from out of town and decided to try dinner here after reading all the wonderful reviews. It is an intimate restaurant with limited seating. We arrived at 5:00 and we're immediately seated. As soon as we were seated we received basket of bread with butter and water. Our server, Marco, appeared shortly after asking if we would like cocktails. He was extremely friendly, entertaining, and attentive. I ordered a gin martini which arrived in a very generous size martini glass. My husband ordered a Bourbon neat and his serving size was much smaller. We started with the flaming feta cheese dish ,Saganki, which was flamed tableside giving a bit of a show. It was very good on the bread provided to us. All of the entrees come with salad, soup, and a side of the day's vegetables. The salad was also tossed and dressed tableside by Marco and served on chilled salad plates which I thought was a nice touch. The soup option offered three choices of chowder, onion soup or minestrone. My husband had the onion and said it was very good. I had the minestrone a soup and it was delicious. For entrees my husband chose the eggplant parmesan which he said was very tasty. I ordered the Triestins, which was thin slices of a veal and marinated artichokes in a light lemon sauce. It was very delicious. After dinner ,the restaurant provides a bowl with walnuts and fruit for a light finish. I ordered a glass of limoncello which was perfectly chilled and really good. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding with a Jack Daniels sauce and this was my only disappointment as it was a small amount of bread pudding around a scoop of ice cream. It was very good but I would have preferred just the bread pudding. I ended my meal with a cup of espresso. Overall I felt that the prices were very fair considering all of the food that was received during dinner that would be considered a la carte anywhere else. I do recommend coming to the restaurant hungry and not in a rush as our meal took 2 hours to complete but I felt was paced accordingly. Street parking was a little difficult but definitely worth the trouble to eat at this wonderful establishment.
Super delicious! We had the strip and lobster, so good!! Loved the vibe, I think the family being so involved makes it feel so welcoming. Next time we’re in town we will definitely stop by again! The flaming desert was absolutely amazing as well. 10/10
The food was excellent. The service is second to none. And the flaming dessert, we had cherries jubilee, out of this world. You will never be disappointed when dining at Moro's.Food: 5/5
The food was of excellent quality, but the service was even better. My server Marco could not have been better. This was the best, most professional service I have had at a restaurant. The atmosphere, lighting, and music are just right for a dining experience.Food: 4/5
Always fantastic. This restaurant is unmatched in terms of warmth, good family feeling, and food. Everything is just perfect every single time I’ve been there and have gone there. You literally do not find table side service anywhere anymore, and my family and I love it so much. You can tell that the owner and family are truly invested in the quality and care of their restaurant and dishes. Daniel, our server tonight was awesome! All of them have been equally as great in the past. Love Moro’s! Parking: So easy to park off of the street.
Let me start off that this place is a hidden gem in downtown Allen Park. The parking could be hard to find if on a busy day. As soon as you walk in, it’s a romantic dim setting and greeted by a host. You are then seated at a table with white linen and silverware. You’re greeted by server attendant with water and get loaf of bread and slices of butter. Our server Marco was divine. He was very professional and made the atmosphere even more delighting. Their wine list is long and have many varieties from sparking, to house, to red and small white wine list. Our server let us know about all the other specials they were offering along with the menu which was a mouth full. Along with the bread and butter, we had saganaki which is the fried goat cheese and Opa was shouted. We chose one of the specials along with the basil fettuccine Alfredo. We also tried the minestrone soup and sweet onion as well. The sweet onion soup had these giant croutons that were buttery and saw with a crisp. Our salad was refreshing and it looked like mixed greens with chickpeas and vinaigrette. They ask if you want ground up pepper to go on top. Our service was out of this world. Our water glasses were always kept full and butter, grated parmesan and bread was fully stocked. The best part of the night was the table side banana foster. It was an awesome experience watching the orange peel catch on fire. I’m picky with my food and I like more salt than they put in our dishes and pepper but the food was flavorful though.
Moro's has amazing Italian food that comes with a side of your waiter in a tux! Some days it is exceptionally crowded as the full dinner experience will take about two hours! Enjoy the flaming desert, it will not disappoint.Food: 5/5
Great food, relaxing atmosphere and very good and loyal employees! I was here for my Birthday Dinner recently with my children and my grandchildren. That wasn't our first time there though. My love for Moro's goes way back to when my children were as young as my 3, 5 and 7 year old grandchildren are now! And the gentleman who served us has been there since way back then. He starts off with a delicious salad, prepared table side. Next comes the savory soup and for the main course you can't go wrong with the tender, melt in your mouth, veal cutlet Maison!!! Then if you have room, you can top everything off with a delicious flaming dessert prepared table side. Our favorite is cherries jubilee! I have been a patron of this restaurant for many years and I highly recommend that you go and experience it just once. I guarantee that you will be back for more!!!
