A World of Opportunity
The Morris School District provides a comprehensive educational program for approximately 5,200 students from preschool through high school. Dedicated teachers, small class sizes, state-of-the-art technology, and extensive extracurricular programs support the academic and social needs of a culturally-rich school community.
Kindergarten in the Morris School District is a full-day program. The average elementary class size is 19, with specialists providing instruction in art, science and music. At the middle school level (grades 6-8), Frelinghuysen Middle School’s 1,200 students are assigned to one of three “houses.” These houses, or smaller learning communities, help to facilitate close and meaningful long-term relationships between students and staff. All 7th grade students receive IPads as part of the District’s ongoing initiative to infuse research-based technology instruction throughout the curriculum. Extensive extracurricular programs augment the academic, social, and emotional development of Frelinghuysen students.
Morristown High School’s comprehensive secondary curriculum includes more than 250 course offerings. In addition to a rigorous college preparatory program, Morristown High School offers a Science Academy, which provides an in-depth and continuous program of study in math and science, and a Classics Academy, which focuses on humanities at the AP and honors level. MHS offers 27 varsity sports, 29 interscholastic athletic teams, and 50 extracurricular programs. In 2010 Newsweek magazine selected Morristown High School among the nation’s best high schools and MHS was again named among the top 75 high school in New Jersey by New Jersey Monthly magazine (September, 2012).
