Small but beautiful museum. I only had under an hour to visit before closing and it was worth a visit. Very affordable entrance fee of $3 in May '22. Wish I had my kids with me, they would have loved seeing all the birds and doing the hands on activities. Neat to see the wildlife examples of what you could find in this area. The current WWII exhibit was fascinating and informative. I loved the honest narrative and learning about the time period and what was happening in the area. Neat to see how the bay was used in naval training as well. Helpful and friendly staff and cute gift shop. Staff had great recommendations for other things to do in the area, and were kind with me being there at closing time. Nice little stop with a lovely walk up the hill next door after for some phenomenal views.
Much larger than it looks from the outside! $3 entry. Lots of interactive exhibits great for adults and kids. Realistic replicas of local wildlife. Plus there's lots to do to keep the kids entertained. Enter through a small gift shop with typical CA State Park souvenirs.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Very very friendly staff here at this small museum. There is alot of information about the history of the area including the wildlife. $3.00 entry fee. They even have a nice gift shop. This is also a good place to start to get an idea of what there is to do in the area as the workers will offer you some great advice, directions, and information.
$3 entry fee is a great price point for this kid friendly museum. Staff is friendly and plenty willing to answer questions. There are many taxidermy birds and skeletons of sea creatures. You are literally just on the edge of the estuary. There is a small parking lot attached to the museum, but you could park in many other close spaces. Go ahead and climb all the way to the top of the rocks near the museum, as there are good views and a couple great benches. This whole area seems very dog friendly, too.
The museum itself is low key. The views are awesome! The park rangers there are very friendly and warm people.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
Museum of Natural History is small and quaint. It is only a few rooms deep but it is filled with much information and very interesting displays both visual and interactive. We spend the better part of 2 hours making it easy through the museum and watching a film in the last room. The Museum itself is located on a hill lined with trees and stones along the side, there is a garden and benches all around the hill with views of the calm beach, the ancient volcanic mound Morro Rock, a bird sanctuary, a busy dock with many boats, kayakers heading into Morro Bay, some even venturing into the marsh lands! We enjoyed our time here and hope to make plans in the near future to check out the camping area we discovered on this trip!
Fun experience, $3 donation per person to enter, 20 - 35 mins of things to do and look at, learn more about the california coast, its species and impacts of human intervention!
For the $3 entry fee, I didn't expect much. However, lots of good interactive stations and information on the local birds and animals. Nice view of the bay. Very nice gift shop. Good way to burn 1-1.5hrs.
Such a cool little museum! My 5 year old loved the puppet area with the books and interactive games. Very informative and fun to walk through. $3 for 17 and up. Under 17 is free. Totally worth it!Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$1–5
The docents are very knowledgeable at this museum and the tour down in the estuary allowed the kids to learn more about the eco system and the different living organisms local to the area. Take a tour trip here and you will be amazed at what you can learn. To be able to see different large sea birds nesting high above ground near each other was a sight not to be missed bring or borrow binoculars.
