Mortensen Dairy Ice Cream is a family owned business that serves our award winning homemade ice cream. Elmer Mortensen first started delivering milk door to door back in 1915, and since then the Mortensen family has continued the tradition from generation to generation. We are proud to continue serving Connecticut's finest homemade ice cream! Let our family serve yours!

Goes without saying, the ice cream was GREAT! I haven't been here in a couple years so I had to get past the sticker shock but I have no doubt it is the same everywhere that sells ice cream. Best of all was the young man that waited on me. Extremely patient and very helpful. That is the customer service I remember from the old Mortensen's. I will be back both for the ice cream AND the service.
Really great ice cream!! They have lots of great flavors - it was hard to choose. I went with the pistachio walnut and graham central. They were both creamy and delicious!! Their ice cream portions are generous. I ordered a “one scoop” and thought it was really big!
Such a great experience there yesterday. The staff was super helpful as it was my first experience. There was so much to choose from. They offer many more flavors then I would have imagined being a family owned business. In addition, they offer gallon containers and ice cream pies aswell. If you haven’t gone in awhile, my husband says it’s still good! :
Let me start by saying that the staff was very nice and the ice cream is delicious. It was our first time at Mortensen’s and we heard many good things about it so we were really looking forward to going. We are not locals so we didn’t realize that this is a cash only establishment which is not very conducive in todays society but on top of that there is no ATM on site. My wife and I had to skip because I didn’t have enough cash on me but the kids really enjoyed it and from what we tasted we really liked it. Next time we’ll come prepared but there really is no reason to be a cash only place in todays day and age.
Cute small ice cream shop with fresh locally made ice cream. Prices are reasonable and servings are large!
Cash only but yummy ice cream. I have yet to get a bad flavor. Staff is nice and you can sample some flavors. There is some seating outside to eat and fun thrift store shopping across the parking lot

This is an amazing place! Delicious ice cream, and awesome friendly service! But knowing it is not only local based, but also historic makes it a "must have" in my book! I'll be back! Thanks for a great Sundae!
Tasty ice cream made with love.. people serving here are as sweet as their ice cream.. The sundaes are awesome n huge.. I tried the strawberry shortcake sundae n it was super tasty n completely worth my visit.. my husband loves the ‘pure vanilla’ here n it actually is one of the best vanilla ice creams we have tasted so far .. it is also a very old establishment n has a great history to it !!
Don't be like me who thought this place was INSIDE MOES. Its behind it I kno i know.. Im kinda blind.. Dumb maybe... But anyways, really large variety of icecream. It's very busy in summer. Look up the menu online, you wont have much time to skim the menu!! Staff 10/10 really nice. My god, the lady who served our icecream was sooooo nice and peppy!! Wooo!
