We the volunteer firefighters after over 20 years of trying to form a joint fire district between the Village of Otisville and the Town of Mount Hope and being brushed aside time and time again have independently joined together to form the Mount Hope Fire Company.
We continue to provide the same quality of service that you our neighbors have become accustomed to as our personnel have been providing this community with services in firefighting, fire prevention, rescue, mitigation of Hazmat situations, emergency medical services and public service for over the last 20 plus years.
We are volunteers and do not get paid for providing these services to our community. We are also tax paying residents of this community with homes, families and jobs just as you. We take time out of our lives to acquire the necessary training to be qualified to fight fires and help those in need of medical and rescue services. We take additional time to hone our skills with continuous training drills.
If the alarm goes out for a neighbor in need of help we do not hesitate to run out the door and respond to that call. We do not hesitate to run into a burning home as others are running out. We put our lives on the line to save and protect our neighbors, their families and their property. All this we do while not receiving nor asking for a single cent paid to us for our time. We do this with passion, generosity and love for our community and our trade.
While volunteering to serve our community we unfortunately sometimes miss out on family dinners, little league games and ballet lessons. But we are very lucky and grateful to have loving and supportive families who stand by our choices to volunteer and risk our lives for the community which we chose to live in and raise our children in.
