"Weekends are busy at Mount Olivet Cemetery in New Orleans. With 7 to 9 burials each Saturday and more each Sunday—including the occasional jazz funeral—the small cemetery can seem very big on celebrating life.Directly north of downtown, not far from City Park and very close to Dillard University, Mount Olivet opened in 1918 and is still the only cemetery in New Orleans’s Mid-City District that caters to the African-American and Creole communities. A mere 4 acres in size, it averages 450-500 funeral services each year."

While visiting the City of New Orleans, we stopped by Mt. Olivet to take care of some business and to visit our family grave site. We had the pleasure of meeting the General Manager, Albert Delaney, who found it not robbery to escort us personally to their new office which we could not locate the old office building had been torn down while the site was being renovated. He could have easily given us directions or had a staff walk us over but he added that personal touch by escorting us himself. That let us know that he knew the importance of providing excellent customer service. It didn’t stop there, after interacting with the front desk, Paula McFarland, continued to provide that same type of “excellent customer service” that we experienced from the GM. I would tell anyone who needs this type of service if you don’t go to Mt. Olivet, where not only do they show you that your business is greatly appreciated, extend compassionate and caring service, and treat you as though you are part of their family, you are missing out. Thanks Mr. Delaney and Ms. McFarland, you two made our day.
I would like to express gratitude and thanks to Rashad Harold. I do not live in New Orleans but my father grew up there and I wanted to return him home. My uncle made contact with Rashad for our family and I handled it from their. Rashad walked me thru it all, answered all my questions and treated our family with respect and dignity. Thank you for being so kind during our time of mourning.
