The library has been nicely renovated, its well lit and well spaced. Sadly, as I'm sitting here at 12:48 it sounds more like a social hall for people to have loud conversations, and this is the staff engaging in this behavior. Any understanding that this is a place for quiet research, browsing and reading has been lost. The library has also become a favorite for homeless people that take over the reading tables for hours and hours. There is also a high tolerance for young kids, usually boys, who talk and use foul language without any regard for anyone else. If you want a quiet space you better off at another library.
I’m giving the library a 1 star because the staff here have bad customer service skills. I’ve had great interactions at the Georgetown location the librarian at Gtown saw me checking out films and gave me a recommendation that became one of my favorites as an alternative example. That’s the difference between librarians loving their job and seeing it as a service to the community and those just ended up there. I have only had weird or negative interactions at Mt P. They don’t look at you as a human being and bark at you when they don’t want you to do something. The staff is on a major power trip. Just go to pick up and drop off.
Nice and relaxing place Very kind and helpfull staff Really appreciate
Seems every patron here that melanated is viewed as homeless. Not that it should matter, but this staff is definitely split. From the really friendly, helpful, and kind staffers to the cort, unhelpful, and negative staffers who seem to have an attitude before " What do you want?, You're bothering me from doing something else I should be doing dismissive." Itz a vintage place, attractive building, but the aura in the air is a bit choppy. Kinda hit or miss here..Depends on the day..the weather... something?...
Lived near there for years before covid and, about 2 years after! Panhandlers were allowed to literally sleep on the steps but, covid changed all that and, now none of that is allowed! It's back to it's original beauty! Its ckean everywhere and, feels good to be able to go back in and, sit down to peace and quiet!
I was horrified when I went down to use the restroom. There was a man using the baby changing station to prepare his arm and his needle to shoot up. I went upstairs and told the security guard she neither responded or moved from her chair I'm very sad that the library has come to this
Lovely library in my neck of the woods as a tourist. God is great and real. This place and this part of the city exemplified His reality in my life ever more so. Cozy and with a "pleasant" vibe. Very nice!
Cozy. Makes sense as the weather outside is superb in its bitterness as chilling. Nice and free culture here. A good work space. I don't see this library as one with much informational resources for a big project with hard back as evidence. Definitely pleasant.
This is a beautiful building with large windows, solid wood chairs and tables and high ceilings. It is quiet and I've spent weeks writing here very happily. The staff are mostly friendly and the users are a mixed bunch but I've met some wonderful people. All in all, a very special place. Would certainly recommend!
This library is much quieter than the other DC public libraries since there tends to be less people. The lower level is also quiet so people with can work and play on their laptops, tablets and smartphones.
