This project seeks to bring ancient nourishment to the modern day folk! Bone broth dates back to the Stone Age and from there weaves its way through history simmering in bamboo tubes sealed at the ends with clay in Asia or in a basket lined with clay or pitch in the Native Americas! At one time a task so lengthy now manifests itself in a crockpot upon the counter or in a cauldron over the hearth! However, still holding its "deep nourishment, strength, power and invincibility (Fallon, 3.)"
It is a passion of ours for we have used it in the treatment of many ailments: coughs, colds, upset tummies and just good ol' run down days! With the knowledge gathered through half a decade of simmering bone broth in our homes we hope to bring this nourishing staple to your diet!
We source the bones: beef, chicken, pork & lamb from a knowledgeable, ethical farmer in our local foothill community. The bones are grass-fed, grass-finished which promotes the health of the animal and therefore the health of our product! Keeping the project local and authentic is our number one priority.
In that we have found a kitchen in the Coloma area to create the broth and are networking with local markets to find Mountain Folk's place on the shelves of natural food stores Placerville to Tahoe!
