Beautiful very clean and so much history in this cemetery. Only gripe I have is every time I go to vist family my flowers are gone real or fake in season colors ect. I do not understand why they are being removed and dumped in there yard. They should focus on cleaning all the moss or geese droppins on the headstones instead of removing good flowers we pay a lot of money for them.
Beautiful cemetery that every taphophile should visit.
I recently interred my deceased sister here in their mausoleum. The cemetery contains prestigious historical figures PT Barnum and Gen Tom Thumb. There are also a lot of Beardsleys here, a family that has been prominent in the history of Bridgeport. Old-style large monuments abound. The area around the mausoleum is well kept, and there is a fountain in the center of the area. There is actually a family crypt for "Fountain" right by the fountain. I thought the Fountain Family might have donated it, but it turns out that is just a coincidence. The person I talked to in the office said he wasn't aware of it and that he had never heard anyone else mention it, but it is right there just above the fountain as you look at it from the front: "FOUNTAIN" on the largest crypt. There is also a tombstone nearby with the name "Lundberg" printed very large on it. That gives me some light pleasure every time I go visit her tomb--people who read my reviews regularly understand ;. The cemetery is old and heavily wooded, and Ash Creek runs along the western and southern borders. One of the most important consumer considerations is of course price. I can tell you that compared to Willowbrook Cemetery in Westport, where our parents are laid to rest, this quite beautiful and pleasant cemetery is less than 1/3 the price. My parents provided for their own interment and I could not afford to place my sister there, but I am glad to come see her where she is. Have to give it to MGC for being an excellent value. And the fountain area is a very soothing peaceful place, comparable to being on the "Willow Brook" that my parents' tomb is blessedly right beside.
“John Thumb” and Barnum, from the museum who donated a lot to Bridgeport. A lot of history here as were as the surrounding areas of Bridgeport.
Fannie J Crosby is located on Section 8. Go about 100 yards, stop, then on your right look for the grave on this picture.
My family and I regret 100% burying my sister at this cemetery...this people have no type of feelings they remove things that represent sentimental feelings for us and just go through it in the dumpster without letting you know...100% not recomendable
Don't Get Me Wrong It's A Beautiful But It Has To Many Limitations I Can't Put A Personal Touch On My Fathers Grave Because Of The Limited Things I Can Do That's One Thing I Wish The Cemetery Would Change Other Than This Is The Most Beautiful Cementary I Ever Seen
A most beautiful place to walk, especially ln the spring of covid 19. The trees are interesting and varied, the dogwoods are particularly lovely right now and the stones are always interesting to read.
I can't imagine a more beautiful place to be laid to rest. It's a stunning cemetery with history.
My favorite park in Bridgeport. Founded in 1849, this cemetery is spacious, gorgeous, well manicured with plenty of wildlife spaces as well to spot deer and ducks. The historic names you'll recognize from around Fairfield County, the incredible stones and remarkable artistry makes it worth a quick visit or long stroll. The newer resting places are set up in typical tows and small plantings, but the larger and older monuments toward the center are breathtaking. Cemeteries aren't just spooky - they're full of art, history, and peace.
