Mountain Vista Home School Academy, MVHSA, is a one-day per week enrichment program that is FREE for home schooling families in the Pikes Peak region.* Children in grades K-12 attend classes with other home schooled students one day per week. Classes include Art, Technology, Music, Science, Language Arts, and History, and include recesses and lunch.
MVHSA partners with the Colorado Springs Conservatory (CSC) to offer 2 to 4 hours of CSC classes also at no cost to families. The following clubs are offered throughout the school year: Fencing, Yearbook, Band, PE, Rubik's Cube and Drama with Brigitta DePree of the Manitou Arts Theater. A variety of field trips are scheduled, including visits to Chico Basin Ranch, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Academy of Childrens' Theater Plays and many more.
We are excited to offer parents and students access to curriulum ordering and lending library as well as an extensive student library.
Details of the program (subject to change) are:
Classes for grades K to 6 are offered on Tuesday, 8:15 to 3:15
Classes for grades K to 6 are offered on Wednesday, 8:15 to 3:15
Classes for grades 5 to 9 are offered on Thursday, 8:15 to 3:15
Classes for grades 7 to 12 are offered on Friday, 8:15 to 3:15
Students will have supervised access to the cafeteria, library, playground, computer lab, and more
All students must receive their primary education at home and retain their home schooling status
MVHSA is south-centrally located in a beautiful facility, 2400 Slater Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80905. (Next to the Harrison School District Office)
*As a condition of enrollment, students are unable to enroll in any other publicly funded program including online schools (ie. COVA, Calvert Academy, Connection Academy, etc).
