Not-for-profit in structure, Moving Images Distribution has a membership of over 330 filmmakers and a Board of Directors that is elected annually from the membership to guide the organization on matters of policy and to advocate for creators’ rights.
Recognized as a reliable source for film and video that is innovative in approach, Moving Images Distribution primarily represents Canadian work, with a large number of point-of-view documentaries that are culturally significant or address social issues. It also represents a strong collection of animation, short fiction and personal narrative and bodies of work by distinguished experimental and avant-garde media artists, primarily from British Columbia.
Work is available for purchase by galleries, public libraries, educational institutions, broadcasters, and diverse community groups that include First Nations organizations, women’s centres, arts organizations and cultural- or community-based groups. Work may be rented for presentation in public screenings or for ongoing presentation as part of exhibition in galleries or museums.
Our mandate is to enhance public appreciation for the media arts and encourage critical thinking by linking works created by our membership of media artists and independent producers with audiences.
Moving Images Distribution represents works by Canadian filmmakers to non-theatrical and broadcast markets.
