Mozingo Lake Recreation Park

About

Mozingo Lake Recreation Park is a municipal park located 5 miles east of Maryville, MO. We offer golfing, fishing, camping and RV locations, trails, cabin rentals, picnic shelters, and a swimming beach at the Mozingo Lake Recreation Park.

Description

Mozingo Lake is a state-park quality 3,000 acre park, including a 1,000 acre lake with 26 miles of shoreline, and was constructed as a water supply, flood control and recreational reservoir and was completed in 1992 and reached full pool by 1996. Mozingo Lake was constructed primarily with federal funding to ensure a drought-proof water source for Maryville and to help with flood control. Over the years, Mozingo Lake Recreation Park has grown into the outdoor recreation center of Northwest Missouri. For example, many fishing enthusiasts consider Mozingo to be one of the best fishing lakes in the state. In 1993, the lake was stocked with bluegill with catfish and bass introduced to the lake in 1994. Walleye was introduced into the lake in 1996 by the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Mozingo Lake Golf Course was opened for play in 1995 and was named “The Best New Public Golf Course” in 1996. Since that time, the course has only improved. Designed by Donald Sechrest, the golf course is friendly to first time golfers and yet challenging for experienced players. Mozingo Lake Golf Course, at its shortest, is 5,242 yards and stretches to its par-72 maximum of 7,135 yards. The layout has a course rating of 73.5 and a slope rating of 134 on rye grass. In addition, USA Today has designated the golf course as “the best moderately priced golf course in Missouri”.

The past decade has been a period of great growth for Mozingo Lake Recreation Park and now offers a full array of recreational opportunities. We offer 109 full-service, lakeside Recreation Vehicle (RV) camping spaces, 20 of which can be reserved online or over the phone. Five (5) fully furnished camping cabins were added to the park in the early 2000’s and provide comfort camping along the shores of Mozingo Lake. Youth Camp facilities, which include rustic cabins and a large multi-purpose building, were also added in the early 2000’s along with the Mozingo Outdoor Education Recreation Area (MOER). MOERA is a 320-acre facility operated by Northwest Missouri State University and offers a variety of recreational and team building opportunities through a rope course, challenge course, trap shooting, and canoe & kayaking rentals.

The most recent addition to the park is the Equestrian Recreational Vehicle (RV) campground. Completed in 2012, the Equestrian RV Park is located at the trailhead of a 7-mile, lakeside equestrian trail and currently offers 13 RV sites able to accommodate equestrian RV trailers. Amenities provided at the site include hitching posts, drinking water, and a bathhouse.

Mozingo Lake Recreation Park has come a long ways since construction was completed in 1992. Over the years, we have enjoyed providing a variety of recreation opportunities for our guests and we will continue to grow into the future to ensure that we remain the premier outdoor recreation destination in Northwest Missouri.

Came down from Minneapolis to play some early March golf. Got in 2 rounds and stayed 2 nights in cabin #6. Very cool place. I'm sure in June it gets crazy around there, but the 1st week of March it's very peaceful and the dormant rye grassI think is a beautiful shade of brown and plays just fine My only complaint is with the length of the days in early March. I'll be back.
We went to the driving range. Was pleasantly surprised they had ice cold water readily available on site at the range. There is no need to leave or go inside. Great activity for families.
Always a great course to play! Played there several times on company outings, and the course is always in great shape. Took my daughter to play there recently, played the Sechrest 18 hole course, then turned in the cart and played the Watson 9 for the first time. It's a different experience, designed with junior golfers in mind. The open layout makes finding errant balls easy, yet the sculpted terrain around the greens adds some challenges. I enjoy walking when playing, and this walking only course is a nice length. As an added bonus, the green fres on the Watson 9 are very reasonable, and the course was meticulously maintained. I recommend both Mozingo golf courses, the Sechrest 18 for the challeges, and the Watson 9 for a nice relaxing walk while golfing
This is one of the best courses I've played that cost. This course is better than so many courses around Texas and country that charge $100+ green fees. They end up being subpar to this gem. To top it off they have a great par 3 course as well. I definitely recommend checking this place out if you get the opportunity. The only thing you'll regret is rolling off the fairway with the surrounding native grasslands =
Annual April golf trip from Minnesota to Mozingo is always one of my favorite weekends. The course is challenging and in great shape. Kyle and his staff also treat us so well. I am already looking forward to coming back next year.
Sites are a tad short but paved pad with gravel ramp. Long enough for my RV but not my truck. Area is very well maintained as they were cleaning fire pits frequently. Bath house is very nice well stocked and maintained. I didnt utilize laundry but it is available. Sites are electric and water. I really like the park but because the trees are still very young there is still not a lot of shade. Once they grow in then things will be better. Free wifi is available and works pretty good with not a lot of users but once loaded up like others it can become fairly useless. Coverage is ok. Verizon is the extended network but has some drops, sprint/tmo is decent allowing streaming at 30meg.
Beautiful! Helpful staff! We went to a wedding here at it was beautiful, classy, and accessible.
Beautiful venue, participated in step-son wedding. Recommend the location for your wedding and reception needs. You can't beat the view.
It’s a tough course when you get to the back 9 unless there is wind which is always then the front 9 gets hard. Keep the APT regional here indefinitely.
I love golfing here when I was in college and the renovations they've made since then have only made it better. The course is always in immaculate condition, the 9-hole course they added looks like a lot of fun, and the new pro shop/lodge/event center looks amazing. All of that at $40 for 18 holes and a cart. That's a steal. You won't find a better deal than that anywhere.
