Rented a 12 foot truck and they called me the night before to tell me they don't have it.
I was never treated so badly in a budget store as I was treated badly, arrogant employees, and that charged me a deposit greater than that charged in the others in the branch.
Very friendly guys. The trucks are a bit beat up but that not their doing. I was upgraded at no additional charge as my smaller truck request was not available. I'm kind of short of stature. When I hoped into the truck I cloud not reach the brake or accelerator. The seat was immovable. Trucks are abused. The rep immediately found another truck for with seats that work. One thing I would recommend is that they have a better understanding of the insurance options. They don't try to up sell you on these. Also they should give a few minutes to show how the lights etc work. It's a small thing but a quick once over of what knobs work which devices.
The owner was super nice and really helpful. He also has tons of Covid-19 precautions set up and was very thorough about sanitizing the truck and after handling your card and pens for signing papers. They were out of 12' trucks so he gave me a van for the same price vans are more to rent for some reason. I had a super short trip to pick up some furniture from Menlo Park to take it to Mountain View and barely used any gas. He didn't even charge me for the small amount of gas I used since there would be a refueling fee as well. Please support this location if you're looking to rent a truck in the area. He is working on his own there right now and needs the business! Times are tough during the pandemic so it's important to support the local people who treat us well.
We had a reservation for a 10 foot truck and arrived to find only 16 foot trucks. We did not need the bigger truck, and given our task, it would make our job more difficult. The manager at the location was very friendly, and tried to be helpful. He offered the larger truck and tried to find the truck we wanted in other nearby locations, to no avail. He phoned their Budget resource 800 number to see what they could do, but they seemed to believe they were doing us a favor by not charging the increased cost of the bigger truck. We will still be out the higher gas cost of the bigger truck. So just be aware the contract says they can substitute as needed. A reservation does not mean they have it.
Booked a truck pickup online for 1pm on a Saturday. It wasn't until I was heading over that Google Maps warned me this branch CLOSED at 1pm definitely should have warned me on the site somehow when I booked?? I missed my 1pm pickup, so I showed up right after opening the next day tried to call ahead, but the person working there said he'd have to call me back in 5 minutes...20 minutes go by...I call again...same answer, so I just head over. I'm told that even though everything online says that the office closes at 1pm on Saturday, they were REALLY there till 1:10pm, so I should have come then. Because I didn't come during that 10 minute window, they no longer have a truck for me this morning but wouldn't confirm that they actually had one ready previous day. I was told I should call the national Budget hotline, but the person working the front desk wasn't willing to help me with that. Very poor experience--will not return.
Friendliest and most helpful Budget branch in the Bay. Helped a lot on our way to Burning Man.
Unable to return the truck. You are forced to keep responsibility for the truck when you are done because there is no option for after hours return. Customer service is unreachable because they operate on central time. The phone number they give is for a reservation line for which the person's are totally useless for assistance.
Great place and truck. They truck that I reserved was not there. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate me. It was a win/win.
Great service and helpful employees. There was only one when I first came in, but he answered my questions and made sure to help me get a deal.
