Cute shop, but the woman working the counter spoiled the experience by being extremely rude to me and 2 other customers in the store. I asked for book recommendations, another commented on the library next door, and another asked if there was a second location. All were met with surly, condescending responses. She was so rude to the customers behind me in line that they apologized for apparently offending her and left.
This is wonderful bookshop that truly supports authors and brings them to sign books and speak publicly for the general public. So rare these days. Way better than Amazon.
Lovely place full of a variety of mystery books. I was there for a Robert Crais event while he was on his tour and it was an adorable small local book store. I bought a few books while there and they were in wonderful condition and priced how they'd normally be priced at any other big name book store. But I prefer the small cozy feeling of this store over any large chain store any day.
This is a fantastic bookstore! Super knowledgeable staff and a larger selection of books than you may imagine. Admittingly, one could order off Amazon for a slightly lower price, but that would be a mistake for those seeking a mystery novel. Coming here adds to the whole book-buying experience and one will discover other cool books they may have missed out on. It includes a local writer's section and the store also holds regular popular events. There are book readings by best-selling authors and those authors aspiring to become best-sellers. This store and its staff are a dying breed, one that must be treasured and given as much of our business as possible otherwise we risk losing this unique experience in exchange for point and click ordering. Shop local!
I had my bedroom closets and laundry room designed by Erica Heath and the experience was wonderful and easy! I really had no idea what I really wanted other than the fact that I wanted it to be clean, organized and off the floor. Erica made several suggestions with finishes and design that were important to me. Her design also allowed for changes as my kids grow into the house. Her input was so valuable and I love my laundry room now which is a good thing since I practically live there. I am so pleased and happy with the product and the quality that I am ready to do the rest of my house!!
Cannot begin to say enough good things about this bookstore. The staff is incredible! We spent 3 hours there before a book signing jut chatting, browsing, and having a ball! Highly recommend making a trip here!
When I encounter outright rude behavior in retail establishments, I always share it. My visit today to: Murder on the Beach Mystery Bookstore 273 NE 2nd Ave in Delray Beach ...merits a share. As an independently published author, I try to get my work out there. Reading about the store online, the reviews said that the staff was rude. I take such things with a grain of salt and see for myself. I met Joanne, who said she was an employee, not the owner, and complimented her on the nice looking space it is! I then introduced myself and asked if they carry independent local authors. She said no, that the whole shop would be full of such books since so many people were self-publishing. Completely acceptable. I thanked her for talking to me and said this was the first time in the shop, a friend had just told be about it. Joanne then added, "That is another reason we wouldn't carry your book , you are not a customer." Taken aback, I told her again it was my first visit and I might have become a customer whether they carried my book or not. I also told her that I read online commentary that the staff of the store was rude. She laughed and said, "Well now you know it's true."
They moved from the original place we found them a year or two ago. A fascinating place if you like murder mysteries. I've never seen any place like it. Most of my life I have been more of a science fiction fan than anything else. In recent years my wife and I have become interested in what I call 'crime documentaries'. Murder mysteries are now on my radar and I will make this a stop on my next trip to south Florida.
An old fashion book store with a nice selection of books. There are selections from local writers which adds to the enjoyment of going here. The people working here are very nice and knowledgeable. Just don't expect Starbucks and croissants.
Loved this place. Had a great book signing event where I got to meet one of my favorite authors- James Rollins!. Staff was very friendly and accommodating.
