Murphy Funeral Home was established in 1946 by Adelbert V. Murphy and Marian Murphy in Ontario, NY where "Del" had grown up with his family. Their son Stephen G. Murphy became a funeral director and joined them in business in 1964. Steve and his wife Mary Lou purchased McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home in Palmyra, NY and their son Michael came to work with them as a funeral director and manager of McGuire/Hargrave & Murphy Funeral Home. Payne & Murphy Funeral Home in Macedon, NY was purchased by the Murphy family and a new building was built in 1996 at 1040 Rt. 31 in the town of Macedon, NY. The Murphy family continues a proud tradition of serving families in their communities.
