We enjoyed out stay in the Judge's suite. The host was very friendly, breakfast was generous and delicious and the location, near Carey Street for restaurants, was great. Of course, it is near the superb museum. Would return. Note that restaurants are closed certain days so check in advance.Rooms: 5/5
Booked Judge Rhea’s suite for a birthday weekend and couldn’t be happier with my decision. Spacious, cozy rooms in a beautiful old house, a claw foot tub and a steam room, delicious breakfast and warm hospitality. The host went out of her way to make my birthday a little extra special with a cupcake and absolutely made my day! The house really is RIGHT across the street from the VMFA and a very short walk away from Carytown, so the central location made things basically effortless. I would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who wants to be in the heart of things in this part of town.
We had a wonderful stay at the Museum District B&B! Melinda was so helpful in getting us settled in once we arrived and Trish made a wonderful breakfast in the morning. We stayed in the Carriage House and it was so nice and private, being so close to the VFMA and Virginia Historial Society was also great and we definitely recommend visiting those while you are in town. For a last-minute trip, everything was great! We will definitely be returning when we're back in Richmond!
My friend stayed here. It's a beautiful house 1920's? across the street from VMFA. Great location, but she said it wasn't quite as "shiny" as it looked on the internet. I think she was outside of the main house in the carriage house.Rooms: 4/5
Loved our stay at the B&B! Melinda was warm, accommodating, inviting and super friendly; it was a pleasure getting to know her and staying in her warm, cozy place. She does a great job maintaining it, and takes very good care of her guests. We especially loved the breakfast that she cooked for us, and her homemade jam! We only stayed a night as we were just passing through, but it was totally worth it. Highly recommend!
We enjoyed our stay in the cottage house! My fiancé, one year old, and I loved the breakfast. It was a 3 course meal with coffee available. Very filling! The wine and cheese offered at 5 was amazing. Multiple options for wine even a nonalcoholic and everyone got their own plate of cheese and crackers to take. The hosts were both so friendly. Free exhibition tickets for the museum which is right across the street. In a cute, safe area. Definitely walking distance to Cary town. Would definitely stay here again if we visit the area!
One of the best hotel/bed & breakfasts I’ve ever stayed in! This is simply THE nicest place to stay in Richmond. Trinette welcomed me and me feel at home! This bed & breakfast is a historical site itself, with a rich story and background. The wine and cheese hour is fantastic. Be sure to stay here next time you visit Richmond. Quick trip to Richmond hotel from b&b.
My sister booked the carriage house and the outside looked charming, but once inside we decided for our safety and health that we could not stay there Painting was peeling on the walls and bubbled on the ceiling. The wiring was knob and tube, which is a fire hazard. There were overloaded outlets The owner was on vacation, but told us her mother would be there, the only thing there was a lock box with a key in it. We had to call to get the code and the mother was annoyed that we didn’t have it and insisted it was sent in an email no email was sent telling us about a lock box On the positive side, the room was clean, but the rug was filthy
We've had a marvelous time! A wonderful host, made-to-order breakfast, complimentary exhibit tickets, convenient location, and conformable rooms - what's not to love?Rooms: 5/5
We just spent a couple days in the Judge Rhea suite for my birthday, and had the most wonderful time! Beautiful, clean, quiet, and conveniently located right next to the VMFA which we were so kindly given exhibition tickets to by Melinda. We will absolutely be back, especially to enjoy that lush bathroom with the sauna & clawfoot tub!
