Travelers, this is a wonderful local history museum. We learned so much about Opelika from spending an afternoon in this museum. There is so much information packed into each space be sure not to miss anything. The museum guide when we were there was knowledgeable and gave us a tour of the museum. Go and uncover the long and glorious history of this bucolic train town. I was amazed to learn that at one time Opelika was so dangerous, way back in the 1800s, folks on the train passing through town had to duck so the folks in the downtown saloons wouldn't shoot at them. To look at the lovely downtown today you would never guess that. We recommend.
Took our granddaughter, she had a great time, she loved the old dresses on display, the train sets, coloring station, and all. It was a great trip for her. strongly recommend taking your children to see our local history
Interesting glimpse into local History. The curators/museum keepers were very friendly, helpful, and informative. I highly recommend to younger generations to see/understand the depth of our local history.
