Awesome experience! Amazing arts in there love how they have a little summary beside the paintings explaining into detail. I loved it definitely some interesting stuff. It is a lot of walking tho!! Be prepared. If you’re going to go with your kids be aware that they don’t touch anything because you cannot touch any of the art plus there’s always people watching. Be respectful. I do recommend! I believe it’s free on Thursdays if you don’t want to spend $ it’s perfect!
It’s really great to visit!! I spend 6 hours there, 3pm till close but my visit still not complete!! It because I love arts, I enjoy watching them at least one minute each, read their description yes, every single one of them and watched all cinematic arts, that’s why 6 hours wasn’t enough for me. So I’ll go again next week. If I understand it rightly there’re 4 buildings of arts including the art school for us to visit. Tips: FREE general admission on every Thursday!!!
I was pleasantly surprised by the collection of this museum. The mix of European art with other regions of the world really brings a balance to the perception that visitors can get in their visit. The buildings are large and don’t feel cluttered, and the artwork is well preserved. I recommend the museum thinking about a recommended visit for newcomers, or an audio guide that can give more insight into specific works if there was one, it was not offered to us.
Beautiful, beautiful museum. You can get 4 people free access to all exhibits if one of them has a Lone Star Card! I didn’t know that until they kindly informed us, and we didn’t have to pay a single cent for entry. It’s a spacious museum, and there’s even a cafe inside where you can sit and grab a quick lunch. The parking garage is pretty easy to find and inexpensive compared to most places. Great place for photos too!
This is a fascinating museum. It has three buildings connected by tunnels with different kinds of art installations. The video screen installation by the main entrance was fascinating to the young and old alike. It is well worth the visit. I could have spent far more time here. The museum map does show what installations are in which galleries, so if you have a particular interest you can get there more efficiently.
This place is all things fine. But they are strict with trying use any type of tripod or selfie stick. The tickets were free and the time was not limited. Parking was only 10 dollars and if it wasn’t raining I would just walked to the other museums everything is close together. So this place is so big and is connected by tunnels. They have staff all over to help and direct you. A lot of sitting places. The food at the cafe is standard little high but not bad. All of the exhibits were so nice.
Thursday is admission free. Parking garage is $10 for up to 4 hours. Parking garage connects to the ticket counter. Then use under ground tunnel to the museum buildings. The Glassell Gold collection is very impressive.
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is a stunning and modern museum with a relatively small number of exhibits. It excels in showcasing contemporary art through installations and works by contemporary artists. However, when it comes to classic artists and compositions, the museum appears to be lacking. I hope that in the near future, this museum will provide the opportunity to view a greater number of paintings by renowned artists from past centuries.
Great art museum. I really enjoyed their collection of European and American paintings. The impressionists exhibition was a real treat for me. I spent all day at the museum and didn't have enough time 6 hours to see the Kinder building's modern and contemporary art. I tend to read every placard and take my time looking at each painting. Hopefully, I'll see it the next time I'm in Houston. I like that the different buildings are connected by an underground tunnel so you don't have to go outside and show your ticket again at the next building and it shields you from the weather. The museum was easy to get to from my hotel. I took the Red Line train to the museum district stop and it was just around the block.
Lovely place. Composed of several buildings with three floor and connections underground. Very spacious and has collection of arts from all time and places. Plan for three hours minimally. There s a gift shop, cafe and kids play ground.
