Extremely cool museum with great exhibits! The location is a great factor too because there is always festivals happening outside and it is near the space needle. The museum has a lot of different sections which are all worth exploring it has a make your own music room, sections on the history of hip hop and most importantly the major music artists who came from Seattle and their journeys. The wall or statue of guitars was amazing and the room with the large TV is great. As a big Nirvana fan seeing their guitars and reading the history of their albums was great. There is also a guitar hall of fame and a horror room, Disney room and more. You can spend a good 2 hours in here to fully enjoy everything the Museum offers.
There is some neat stuff, but overall I feel like it could be cooler. Outdoor architecture is super cool. The horror and fantasy exhibits were the better of the options. Sound lab was sorta neat, but not so much for those of us with zero musical talent. We got our tickets with City pass, so it was packaged with the space needle and Chihuly garden. We skipped the extra exhibit at the museum because it was an additional fee... It probably was the coolest thing there and we didn't get to see it.
What an amazing experience checking out the Contact High exhibit dedicated to the celebration of 50 years of Hip-Hop. My husband and I were blown away by the extent of legendary pieces of hip hop that we got to see up close. We also took the time to look at the Nirvana exhibit and the "tower of guitars" I don't remember exactly what that was called but it was really cool! They have something for all ages. HIGHLY recommended!
This museum exceeded all our expectations! Its convenient location, nestled close to other attractions, made it a perfect addition to our Seattle itinerary. The iconic building itself is an architectural wonder. What truly sets this museum apart is its wide appeal. Both adults and teenagers in our family thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Laika exhibition, featuring Coraline, was a particular highlight, although it does require an extra ticket. The exhibits dedicated to the history of hip hop, fantasy and horror movies were captivating for our teenagers. The Sound Lab, where you can create your own music, was a hit with the younger and older crowd :. However, for the adults, the Nirvana gallery was the highlight. Overall, the Museum of Pop Culture is a must-visit attraction in Seattle, and it’s well worth the time and money spent. It was a memorable experience for all of us.
You had me at Chris Cornell. If you aren’t sure who that is I’m not sure we can be friends. Before I even stepped inside I had to find his statue. It’s just beautiful in person and is an awesome addition to the museum . The building itself is a site to see. Well worth the time to check out if you love music of any kind. Great playground outside and beautiful park as well. A must stop if In Seattle.
Thoroughly enjoyed exploring this place! Plenty to interest anyone, from hip hop, grunge, animation, all the way through horror to fantasy and science fiction. Many iconic artefacts from movies and TV thanks Paul Allen, interactive exhibits enjoy a play on the drums or mixing desk, the ubiquitous gift shop and cafe, even the fascinating building itself once you found the entrance were special. Easy to get to on the monorail, all in all a most enjoyable visit.
Worth the $$ and the time. Great staff and although it was busy it didn't feel hectic. Most importantly, the exhibits are well-curated and full of rich detail. My day at Seattle’s pop culture museum was an unforgettable journey. The hip-hop exhibit, a time capsule of the genre’s evolution, captivated me. The Nirvana tribute tugged at my nostalgic heartstrings, while the stop-motion display showcased incredible artistry. The horror section and music room were equally impressive. The day flew by as I lost myself in the exhibits, and the restaurant’s fantastic food fueled my adventure.
Great museum! We bought the Quest Love “Contact High” book. That exhibit was by far the best as a photographer. I found the history and culled films mind blowing. I felt like I was getting an inside peek at the decision process of the album covers. Definitely a cool experience.
Bought the Seattle City Pass and this was one of the 5 options to choose from...advance tickets aren't required as lineups go quick... they had different exhibits, my family loved the sound lab and my daughter loved Hidden Worlds/laikawhich was an extra $6 on top of regular admission.... had lots of great options at the gift shop... very easy to get to, either by walking or taking the monorail which we took the monorail. Definitely recommend if you're here on holidays like we were!
