This is an amazing organization that teaches young boys and girls so many valuable life lessons! There is so much that they Do to support the children.. They have great financial aid packages so anybody can participate. My son has learned invaluable life lessons and I definitely recommend signing your children up for the Boy Scouts of America!
Love my pack but I find it really funny that your people messed with kids yet to go on a camping trip...the parents have to watch a ridiculously lonnnnng video of common sense things about molestation, grooming and bullying. Get real. This is such a HUGE turn off and, get this, if you want to volunteer for this organization....you have to pay TO VOLUNTEER and you have to pay for your own uniform!!!!! Nevermind having to sell tiny little bags of popcorn for 25 bucks. I want to do something good for my kids and you want to line the corporate pockets.
As a former Eagle Scout, and my sons also Eagle Scouts, that new merit badge that is now required or "FORCED" that is in line with the WOKE agenda is a disgrace! Why are we forcing an upcoming Eagle Scout to take the Citizenship in society is in line with the WOKE agenda
I'm disappointed in the way Boy Scouts is going. Eagle Scout used to be seen as a high honor, and earning palms even higher yet. New rules allow boys to get palms as soon as earning Eagle Scout, even if that happens to be on their 18th birthday. I worked hard to finish my Eagle requirements early, allowing me to earn a Gold palm before aging out. Now boys I joined with are getting silver or more palms and only completing their board of review with days to spare. These changes are lowering the prestige of these highly honored awards, and making things easier for people, instead of making them put in time and effort, which is what they will need in the working world. I have family and friends who work in business, and have always been told that having Eagle Scout on a job application is often a deciding factor of who to hire, and have palms make an elite group stand out even more, but is that going to remain the case, or will it just be come another thing to put on a list. In addition to that, it was unanimously voted to allow girls in all ranks of Cub and Boy Scouts. I understand that some girls are interested in the activities that occur in Boy Scouts, but instead of changing a program that has run fine for 115 years, why don't they petition for changes in Girl Scouts. They also have always had the option of Venturing or Explorers which was always Co-ed. I feel that these changes are unnecessary, and quite frankly, ridiculous. Maybe the troops should be polled about major changes in the future to see how the organization as a whole feels about them.
I was a volunteer for 25 wonderful years and now keep up with what District is doing. I'm very disappointed that girl will be able to join the BSA and earn Eagle. They have their own awards in Girl Scouts. They have girl Scouts so don't understand why allowed in BSA. i know there are girls in Explorers and that fine. Just think this was a bad idea by whomever decided to do this. Will reconsider donation to BSA. Will donate only to my Granddaughter who is a Girl Scout..
Since 10 years of age I'm 47, I have been a part The Boy Scouts of America. Jane and I have served as leaders for you, followed your recommendations through your curriculum, and just plain enjoyed instilling the proper moral and ethical character traits in our boys. We have had several sons in scouting one Eagle Scout and still have one son and a grandson currently in Scouts. As you can see, we have much invested in your organization. The decision you have to make concerning gays to enter your organization and represent sexual sin in your organization as a right will have a profound effect on our decision to stay or go with your organization. I'm sure you have received several of these correspondences, but please let me offer a different opinion. Like The Boy Scouts, the gays too are afforded to start their own Scouting organization in this great nation. The freedoms of this country is extended to them like us. Please don't come off of your stand against this group. You will continue to have our prayers in this fight with understanding of your commitment to our nation’s boys. Al and Jane Davis
The BSA National office is a great campus as well as fun and interactive . Set up an appointment and say to your national office.
My boys and I love the program! Many ways to learn how to be better people and prepared for the future. Many Adult Leaders and Scouts that I have met in thr past 6 years have been the type of people who I can enjoy together in the outdoors. I have learned many new skills as well through all of the training that I'm actually more production and effective at my job. Thank you Boy Scouts of America for provide a great system!
Eagle Scout here excited at the prospect of my daughters having access to the same resources and programs that I did growing up in scouting. I think recent policy changes will keep the organization relevant and doing the most good for years to come.
I would like to say that I am very unhappy with the boy scouts right now. When I brought my son to school on Tuesday they were handing out flyers to all the parents to come join a meeting on 9/9/2015, when my son came home from school he had some flyers in his kindergarten folder. My son was super excited and had been talking about ever since he came home. So we took my son to the meeting tonight, we sat threw the presentation and he was paying very close attention to what the leader was talking about,he had a smile on his face the whole time. After the presentation he got up and ran over to the tables with all the other kids and was looking at all the stuff that they do and having fun with all the boys. Now the fun part as i'm fill out the application I had asked a question. they leader came over and said i'm sorry since you son is not in first grade he can not join!!!! So i grabbed my son and left, and had to explain to my son that he could not join. Try explaining to an exited year old who starts crying why he can't join. I under stand that you have rules to follow but why would you send home flyer with kindergarten kids knowing that they are not able to join. I think that you might want to make sure that leaders are paying attention to what grades they are giving flyers to. You should be more like the girl scouts and let kindergarten kids sign up.
