Interesting tour! The tour guides were great, very personable and informative. Our first floor guide, Molly, sang "My Old Kentucky Home" beautifully. A lot of original items that were family owned. The grounds were very pretty. Gift shop has a little something for everyone. Looking forward to going back again someday.
The tour was well done and full of information. It was cool to see some of Kentucky's history in this town and home. Worth the small price to come! You aren't allowed to take pictures once in the home, so you will have to check it out yourself. The carriage was at the entrance of the main building, but you will learn about it.
The grounds are lovely and historic, the visitor center is very nice. The movie about Stephen Foster is very informative..the tour was wonderful! Our tour guide was engaging, entertaining, knowledgeable, and very fun.Visited onWeekendWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$16–20
We had Evan as a guide on the lower floor and he was amazing. There wasn't a question he didn't know the answer. This place is a must stop for some Kentucky history. Just remember no pictures are allowed in the house. Also there is no penny machine in the gift shop.
Walked the entire grounds and visited the gift shop. We did not tour the inside of the home. Beautiful State Park!
The first part of the tour was amazing with our guide singing “My old Kentucky home.” He was knowledgeable and polite. The second floor tour guide was less than pleasant. Answering questions in a condescending manner and even being snarky. The old hag ruined what would have been an otherwise great tour.
This is a beautiful place to visit in Bardstown, Kentucky. The house and grounds are extremely well maintained. It's a lovely glimpse into the past. The only negative thing I have is that the gift shop is average at best. If you're planning to visit be aware that face masks are required.

We visited My Old Kentucky Home in Bardstown, KY on our recent Fall 2021 RV Bourbon Trail Trip. Very nice tour including a rendition the of the song “My Old Kentucky Home” by the tour guide. Interesting stories in each room. No photos allowed inside. Well worth the price of admission.Visited onWeekdayWait timeUp to 10 minReservation recommendedNoPrice for adult entry$11–15
The Stephen Foster State Park, my old Kentucky home it's interesting but has a tenuous connection to Foster. My Old Kentucky home is a home of a cousin of his and perhaps spending time in it led to the song. The home was donated to the state and it's gardens need the attention it's a large volunteer troop. But the property is trying. The tour of the home is excellent photos are not allowed and educational. There's a film about Foster and an excellent photo collection donated by Linda Bruckheimer. Many former plantation homes Russell with their slaveholding past. While none of that exists in the tour, there are plaques listing slaves who died on the property and talking about the plantation's troubled history with slavery. The grounds feature a large gazebo and probably the facilities serve as an excellent event space.
