Very cute clothing and shoes from brands you can't find elsewhere. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - all of them greeted me and asked how I was doing while I looked around. Huge thanks to Penny, who assisted me for over an hour while I looked for a pair of sandals and found me a tank top and pair of pants too!. Decent prices for the quality. The online stock is not up to date so call or visit the store in-person to find what's available.

Posting this review for a friend. "As someone who has been shopping at Quintessential since 2014, I was extremely disappointed in my experience today, and sadly don’t think I will return. I had purchased a pair of shorts through their online pickup service a month ago and had no problems. The young saleswoman greeted me immediately and ran to get my shorts when I arrived at the store to pick them up that same day. Unfortunately, the shorts didn’t fit at all so I went to return them today. First of all, I was not greeted in the store by any of the employees. No “hello”, no smile, no “how can I help” - they honestly just stared at me. After standing at the counter for a few seconds, I finally asked one of the two ladies who were behind the counter if I could exchange my shorts as I was wanting to purchase a swim suit from their store. I figured it had been too late for a full refund, however I wasn’t expecting them to only be able to offer me credit along with a “restocking fee” of 20% of the original price I paid. If any of the employees had made any effort to be courteous towards me, I would have gladly accepted the offer and probably spent hundreds at their store today. Instead I will be selling my brand new shorts online and recommending that friends do not shop at Quintessential in Nanaimo, as the staff are rather unpleasant."

A convenient and and current clothing store with a nice assortment of shoes and accessories. Located in a beautiful old building on Commercial St, it makes for a nice leisurely shopping experience. They carry many "trendy" pieces but I also find it a useful place to pick up a basic cardigan or a little black dress. Regular prices are fairly attainable and they often feature good sales as well.

I started shopping here when they first were operating in old town Nanaimo. I used to always enjoy shopping here. I would drive up from the Cowichan Valley to shop regularly. Over the last few years it has declined to the point that I no longer want to shop there. They don't open when the sign on the door says they are open so I wandered around, which was fine. I found another amazing store called Arch and Arrow I think it is fantastic. At Quintessentials they move locations frequently so first you have to find them. They literally do not even acknowledge you. They act as though you are so lucky to be at their store rather than vise versa. editing not to be offensive I just kept trying and trying to enjoy going there but despite my efforts this store just isn't what it used to be. When you are willing to pay for quality shouldn't that extend to being treated with kindness and acknowledgment? *** In your reply you mention I was offensive. So respectfully I edited. However, I am not exaggerating or being dramatic in what I say. It's very disappointing. This was a go to store for me for 20 yrs I'd guestimate.

Great stuff in this store , my friend and I like the merchandise. But don’t feel comfortable. One of the staff members, a older blonde women is always watching like a hawk expecting us to steal something. And we don’t look sketchy in the slightest. Wearing Calvin Klein ,Steve Madden bag and we’re clean people . With a attitude like that you’re gonna lose a lot of customers.

I went into Quintessential yesterday and had an excellent shopping experience. It was late in the day and I felt a bit overwhelmed and rushed to find an outfit for the weekend. Carla patiently helped me find several outfits that fit me, my personality and the occasion I was shopping for. The variety and selection of clothes are awesome, and the staff are so helpful and obviously love what they do.

I have shopped here often and the service and merchandise is always top notch. The owner stays on top of what is hot and current as well as bringing in great style to Nanaimo. Treat yourself and get a bag or shoes or dress, or all 3 delivered to your door!

Love the vibe of this local gem. Island, breezy, flow, effortless, classic and still on trend style. Following the public health guidelines of be safe, be kind, be calm. You can even book a private shop for and your peeps if you so desire. Shoes. Accessories. Women's. Baby stuff too...with local producers flowin throughout the store too.
